If you haven’t been associating the word “nudist” with shoes lately, then you need to up your fashion game. The Nudist Heel from Stuart Weitzman has been all over the red carpet, Fashion Week and more, and it doesn’t look like it’s slowing down any time soon.
It’s not the first time that SW has been in good graces with the fashion elite. With the over-the-knee/thigh-high boot trend in full force through the chillier months, we saw both the Lowland and Highland Boots get lots and lots of action. And while the name Stewart Weitzman is now synonymous with fashion’s fave shoe, it’s the new love (or newly-found love) that’s stealing the show. The barely-there heel has become a staple of celebs from Chrissy Teigen to Jennifer Lawrence to Gigi Hadid, but the strappy style has been around for years and is just now gaining popularity. But if you’re not making Kardashian money, it may be hard to morally spend $500 on a pair of shoes that are really just two pieces of material strapped on a heel.
So here are a few pairs that’ll get you as close to the Nudist as possible (I never thought I’d be saying a sentence like that in good graces), without breaking the bank.
gx by GWEN STEFANI ‘Observe’ Ankle Strap Sandal (Nordstrom, $89.95)
For under $100, these gx by Gwen Stefani heels are probably your best bet for recreating the Stuart Weitzman Nudist. I also sort of love the pewter metallic color and definitely think this is the thinnest strap I’ve seen yet.
Betsey Johnson Sarah Sandal (DWS, $59.95)
Even if the front strap is a little thicker than the Nudist, this Betsey Johnson heel is something you should definitely have in your closet regardless.
Steve Madden ‘Stecy’ Sandal (Nordstrom, $79.95)
This is Steve Madden doing what Steve Madden does best. And that’s recreating super-expensive, trendy shoes for a fraction of the price (and probably a fraction of the quality too but you do get what you pay for).
New Look Leather Barely There Sandals (ASOS, $60)
These nearly identical ASOS heels even have “Barely There” in the name, but these also have blisters written all over them if you’re not too careful with when and how you wear them.
PURE NAVY Leather Two-Piece Sandal (Gilt, $79)
I always forget that Gilt is a thing and good thing I remembered because if you did a quick look at someone’s feet wearing the Nudist and wearing these, you probably wouldn’t be able to tell the difference. The heel height is a bit off, but who doesn’t like a little more height?
Nasty Gal Guest List Party Heel (Nasty Gal, $68)
Sam Edelman Patti Patent Naked Sandal (Neiman Marcus, $100)
Another top contender is the Sam Edelman Patti heel, which comes in a bunch of colors and textures. What I do like best about this heel is that the height isn’t intimidating, even if the lack of material is.
Raye ‘Blake’ Calf Hair Heel (Revolve, $102)
Okay, I cheated a little bit with this pair. But the thin strap, simple ankle strap, and perfectly proportioned heel is probably the closest you’re going to get to the style and manufacturing of the Nudist.
