For a long time now, many people on the internet have debated whether or not Taylor Swift is the Worst. On the one hand, she’s “country cutie Taylor Swift” and is very vulnerable and writes catchy guilty pleasure pop music and is also quite blonde. On the other hand, she’s a rich kid who affects folksiness to sell millions of records, is partial to slut-shaming, working the angles with much gross condescension, nakedly exploiting her public relationships to further her career and also taking off her glasses to become suddenly pretty. Where you fall has everything and nothing to do with how often you get “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together” stuck in your head.

Her latest interview with Harper’s Bazaar adds fuel to the hater fire:

“There’s just something so feminine about a dress. Whether it’s a summertime dress that makes me feel carefree, an evening cocktail dress that makes me feel fancy, or a vintage dress that makes me feel like a ’50s housewife — which I enjoy feeling like, for some reason — I just really like dresses. [I own] hundreds. Because I’m in a predicament where I can’t wear a dress twice or else it’s pointed out in magazines, so unfortunately I have to shop for dresses all the time.”

We’re not too keen on labeling anyone a feminist’s nightmare, but we are going to regard that bit about putting on a pretty dress because she loves feeling like a 50’s housewife and we’re going to back away from it, whistling.

What really matters here are Swift’s hundreds of dresses: that she unfortunately has to shop for dresses all the time. Nevermind that there’s a quick fix to this problem–not really caring if you end up in a magazine for wearing the same thing twice!–it’s kind of amazing that she’d have the bottomless lack of self-awareness to bitch about her “predicament” in the fashion magazine she’s covering.

Stars: they’re nothing like us!
