If there’s one thing that can get us up early in the morning, it’s the promise of a country music red carpet. Along with the MTV awards and Kids’ Choice Awards, few things draw out quite the amount of amazing looks as a red carpet full of country music stars. Last night the Academy of Country Music Awards brought out some of our very favorite people, like Taylor Swift and Miranda Lambert. They also drew out a bunch of former Voice contestants. And while the dresses tended to skew a bit pageanty, there’s no better way to throw off a case of the Mondays than a red carpet sparkly Barbie gowns.
Whoa, Shakira! Shakira’s blue dress falls somewhere between ice skater and Bob Mackie. We are not down with this amount of sheer illusion, but somehow this dress is the most fun we’ll have all night.
Taylor Swift pulled a fast one and went actual Fashion. It’s weird considering that she tends to show up to non-country events all spangled up like a country star, and now she’s at an all-country event looking like Kendall Jenner. That’s not to say we don’t love this crop top with its chic cut-outs and the stylish skirt, because it’s great. The makeup is a bit much, but we like her hair this length.
Miranda Lambert looks hot in her sparkly nude mermaid dress, but we find the look a bit snooze-inducing.
Frankie Ballard is definitely where the party’s at. Wherever he is going after this event, we want to go with him.
Carrie Underwood looks ticked off that she covered her boobs in this demure fringed shower curtain, and now she’s the odd woman out.
Olivia Munn does not have that problem. We’re not sure what feat of structural engineering is keeping her breasts hovering like that, but we are impressed. The demure sleeves and plunging neckline are giving us a distinct Renfaire vibe, though.
RaeLynn was one of our favorite Voice contestants ever, but between the feathers, faux crocodile trim, studded shoes, pointy fingernails, and candy earrings, this is too much look for 12 women.
Angie Harmon still embodies everything that was good about 70s style. Nobody else could wear this many bugle beads and still look so casual.
Sheryl Crow‘s dress has an interesting broken-glass pattern, but those earrings make us wince.
Shut up, Kellie Pickler is a goddamn Disney princess already. Even with the frosted Barbie makeup.
Everything about Jewel‘s look is just about five degrees off. We’re not sure what’s happening with these lace lightning bolts or the rattan waistband, and the neckline looks like it’s choking her. Also there appears to be enough contouring between her boobs for 12 Kardashians.
Faith Hill is normally so glamorous, but here she just looks sort of sad and frumpy and under-accessorized in this big, damp dress.
Jamie Lynn Spears had 16 pixie sticks and a carton of go-go juice before her spray tan. We like the dress, but red shoes on a red carpet always make people look like floating, footless monsters.
This is going to be a contentious position, but we like Shawna Thompson‘s poppy-covered tulle dress by Yanina Haute Couture a lot.
Voice winner Cassadee Pope’s dress is a flattering color and fits her well. We wish the nude under slip didn’t cut off mid-thigh like that, because the hem is distracting.
