It’s been awhile since we’ve had a major red carpet awards show. Luckily, we had the 2016 Teen Choice Awards last night. Most of the celebs walked the red carpet in their best summer looks. Floral prints and bold colors featured regularly, along with a few chic all-black looks. Then there were those outfits that just didn’t work out. Even if they were appropriate for the season, they just didn’t come together in the way that we hoped.
Take a look at the best and worst-dressed celebs at the 2016 Teen Choice Awards:
1. Lucy Hale
Now this is a summer dress you’ll want to have in your closet. It’s effortless but polished enough for the awards show. Lucy Hale also earns extra points for giving us a look that isn’t the usual crop tops, cutouts or illusion style.
2. Jessica Alba
Jessica Alba is a successful business woman, not a teenage singer, and it is great to see that she dressed like the woman she is. This all-black look is so chic. The scalloped edge of her top adds a quirky touch and it makes the usual crop top look feel fresh.
3. Sarah Hyland
Sarah Hyland looks ready for summer in this striking printed dress. The dress’s color and pattern are bold, but she has balanced them out nicely with the coordinating shoes and bag.
4. Lea Michele
Lea Michele went for a slightly moody floral print, but it still works. The contrasting skirt and top are an interesting combination, while the pale pink shoes give the look just the right amount of color.
5. Maddie Zeigler
Maddie Ziegler is a pro at red carpets. This look is fun, cute and age-appropriate. It’s everything that you want a teen to wear to the Teen Choice Awards.
Serayah always takes fashions risks, but this is one time where the look didn’t work out. If this was a performance look, it would work. However, on the red carpet, it looks too costume-y. There’s too much lacing, too much going on up top, and way too much pants.
2. Tallia Storm
Tallia Storm is another one who would have benefited from keeping her look simpler. The cutouts don’t do anything for her. The crop top feels like it has been cut too short and the sleeve looks like it was part of a sweatshirt. Plus, the cutouts don’t show off her body. The look seems more like a paper craft project as opposed to a dress.
3. Brooke Burke-Charvet
Brooke Brooke-Charvet has the summer color down. Sadly, this isn’t the best color on her. A warmer pink would have done more for her complexion. The fit is also an issue. When you wear a color like this, you can see all of the fit issues more clearly. The pants are too long and there is bunching in the crotch. Furthermore, the top doesn’t look like it is secure on the sides or in the cups.
