TIME 100 Gala, TIME's 100 Most Influential People In The World - Lobby Arrivals

Last night’s TIME 100 Gala honored the 100 most influential people in the world, and drew out some big names in bizarre outfits. The honorees and guests alike seemed a bit conflicted on the dress code, and we got a mix of flowing evening gowns and cocktail waitresses.

Let’s get into it.

Carrie Underwood went a bit Sandy the opening credits of Grease with this one, but her hair looks stunning.

Ugh, my crush on Frank Ocean won’t quit.

Amy Adams could have used a bit more color in the face region, but looks otherwise lovely.

Laverne Cox does sheer panels justice.

God bless you, Martha Stewart. I’m prepared to call this my favorite red carpet look of 2014, bar none. Gold mother-of-the-bar-mitzvah boxy blazer two sizes too big, spun gold capri leggings, strappy Robin Hood shoes, and a cuff that looks like a scrunchie? I am the luckiest girl in the whole entire world.

Ronan Farrow is dapper and handsome, as usual.

Susan Sarandon just always looks sexy, even in pointy shoes. Those trousers are perfect.

I’m not wild about the pattern on Uzo Aduba‘s gown, but I love the color on her and her makeup is beautiful. Well, she’s beautiful and she also has nice makeup on.

I love the silhouette on Christy Turlington Burns‘ dress, but what material are we working with, here? This looks suspiciously like the sweatshirt I currently have around my knees to keep my legs warm.

I’m still not tired of Jenji Kohan‘s multi-colored hair (it really is everywhere right now), and it’s styled beautifully.

Next up: Some big misses and our very best dressed picks for the night!

Gayle King‘s purple frock isn’t my favorite. It’s just…blah.

megyn-kelly-time-100-gala-2014-1Megyn Kelly decided to shop at Hot Topic for prom. Cool box purse? I bet it’s filled with message pins.

I was so overwhelmed by Katie Couric‘s pattern that I missed that sheer boob panel up front. For shame!

And now, for our best dressed picks, which are a tie!

Maybe it’s my unabashed love of all things Neil deGrasse Tyson, but his vest puts him in a firm tie for best dressed. Alice Young‘s sparkly dress is adorable.

Padma Lakshmi wins the night, too. The cut is perfect and the all-over sparkles are sublime. Jeez, I really want to go on a date with both of our best dressed picks. Get at me, Padma and Neil.

And the worst dressed?

Okay, Ann Coutler. It’s a fancy schmancy event so you went with…cocktail waitress? The boning and satiny sheen are plain old tacky. Thanks for showing up.
