New York Fashion Week is over and the fashion pack has gone off to the other side of the pond for London Fashion Week. The excitement of NYFW gave us some wearable hair and makeup looks and Lady Gaga walking in the Marc Jacobs show, but just wait until you see what LFW has to offer. The shows are in full effect, and Topshop Unique recently unveiled its Fall 2016 collection. Warning: you are going to want EVERYTHING.
The Topshop Unique show is always one of the highlights of London Fashion Week. There’s a reason why the front row is always filled with the coolest people. This year, it included Suki Waterhouse, her sister Immy Waterhouse, Jourdan Dunn, and Karlie Kloss. And, as much as everyone loves seeing the amazing things that Alexander McQueen and J.W. Anderson create, you cannot beat the Topshop Unique show because it features clothes that are affordable, even if they are more expensive than other Topshop merchandise (hey, you can’t have it all).
The Topshop Unique Fall 2016 collection was inspired by none other than Shakespeare. At first, it might seem like an odd inspiration for a Topshop collection, but it actually works. The collection was predominantly black and off white, and there was velvet, plenty of faux fur, sporty knits, and metallics to modernize the whole thing. A number of models wore ruffled chokers that tied up with ribbon. You can think of them as the new version of the ’90s chokers that have been everywhere lately.
Check out some of the best looks from the collection:
The black, gray and off-white color palette is perfect for fall. Everyone should also steal the scrunched-down socks with high heels styling detail.
Here’s your new LBD and one of the aforementioned ruffled chokers. There’s a number of tie details on this look, but it is up to you if you want to tie them into bows or leave them open.
This is how you mix textures and fabrics like a pro. This look may be essentially monochromatic, but it certainly isn’t boring.
Here’s another velvet dress, but this one has been given a whimsical makeover thanks to the print at the hem. Secondly, only Topshop could make us want a pair of bronze pointed-toe boots.
Sadly, we’ll have to wait a bit longer until the Topshop Unique’s Fall 2016 collection hits stores. The good news, though, is that the Topshop Unique Spring/Summer 2016 collection is available for purchase now. It may not have been inspired by the Bard, but it still has enough gorgeous pieces to get your preoccupied until the Fall 2016 collection lands.
