The 2016 Toronto International Film Festival is about the movies, but it also seemed like it was one big festival of fashion this year. Whether celebs were attending press conferences or big premieres, they pulled out all of the stops. The TIFF red carpet was one head-turning look after another. If you loved the glamorous looks at the 2016 Emmys, you will love these ones just as much.
Take a look at the best-dressed celebs from the 2016 Toronto International Film Festival:
1. Kate Hudson
Kate Hudson always looks stunning on the carpet. Normally she goes for an effortless, slightly boho look, but she switched things up at the Deepwater Horizon premiere. Her black lace dress with embellishment was more on the whimsical side. Are we complaining? Nope. She pulled this off as well as any other look.
2. Nicole Kidman
Nicole Kidman ditched the long gown for this midi version at the Lion premiere. Pairing the black and rust striped gown with a sparkly silver shoe is completely unexpected. Nicole makes it work by tying the colors in with the rest of her jewelry.
3. Rooney Mara
Rooney Mara can pull off black and white like no one else, but she can still do color. At the Lion premiere, she opted for a bold red dress. The black heels and minimal accessories were just what this silhouette needed.
4. Lily James
Lily James’s look at the The Exception premiere is proof we should wear white all year long. The off-the-shoulder dress looks amazing from away, but it gets even more interesting in close-up photos where you see the mix of the different fabrics and tones.
5. Lupita Nyong’o
Lupita Nyong’o looked like a queen at the Queen of Katwe premiere. The neckline on her yellow and blue dress is as good as any piece of jewelry. Then you have her head wrap and lipstick adding two more pops of color.
6. Chloe Moretz
Chloe Moretz could have wore this printed dress to the Emmys, and she would have still ended up on the best-dressed list there. She stunned at the Brain on Fire premiere with this look. The silver sandals bring out the beading on the bodice while the burgundy lipstick ties in the red embellishment.
7. Reese Witherspoon
We saw a variety of silhouettes at TIFF. Reese Witherspoon’s short and sweet one at the Sing premiere was another favorite. She’s rocking a trendy off-the-shoulder neckline with a floral print. Her soft hair and makeup are a great counterpoint to the structure of the dress.
8. Emma Stone
Emma Stone slayed it from head to toe at the La La Land premiere. Even if you’re not someone who is into yellow, you have to admit that this textured yellow dress is fabulous. The off-white accessories bring out the sunny color.
9. Dakota Fanning
Dakota Fanning killed it at every appearance during TIFF. This velvet dress at the Brimstone premiere was one of her standout looks. Not only is it on trend for fall, but it has a moody elegance that still feels young and cool.
