In the following video, Oscar de la Renta discusses how far women have come in the past 30 or 40 years with Erika Bearman, a PR rep for his company. When designing for the modern gal, de la Renta says that he’s asking himself, “What can I do for her to make her feel her very best, to make her fulfill her aspirations?”

De la Renta notes how much times have changed, and that the woman he’s dressing today doesn’t share much with her counterpart in recent history. “We are addressing a very different consumer,” he says. “We are addressing a woman who is in control of her destiny.”

The video makes for a good watch, but be warned: while talking to the famed designer, Bearman comes uncomfortably close to pulling a Courtney Stodden. She bats her eyes, looks up at him almost seductively, shares meaningful grins, giggles, and even licks her lips, although that appears to be because she’s trying to make sure she doesn’t have lipstick on her teeth.
