decisions in mens fashion

We’re not saying that life is usually easier for men than for women (alright, maybe we are), but no-brainer fashion is definitely one benefit of being a dude.

Don’t get me wrong– I love having the freedom to try out crazy looks, switch between genres, and do any number of things to express myself while suffering only minimal judgment. I can wear cupcake tits one day and a chicken nugget hat the next, and even though people will probably call me insane, they won’t try to stop me. Our culture adheres to annoyingly rigid gender roles that make it a lot harder for men to branch out when it comes to clothes, and I’m not dismissing that. But on those days when you really don’t feel like trying? It’s easier to go unnoticed if you happen to be a guy.

Seasoned Internet genius Lev Yilmaz posts quirky, thought-provoking, and kick-you-in-the-stomach-with-their-poignancy videos on his YouTube channel, AgentXPQ. The newest installment in his long-running series, “Tales of Mere Existence,” explains just how challenging it is for a guy to get dressed. It’s called “Decisions in Men’s Fashion” and it’s painfully accurate.

Yilmaz illustrates all the benefits of being able to wear the laid-back-dude uniform of jeans and a t-shirt, (“I like being able to say, ‘Who the hell does that guy think he is? He’s not wearing jeans and t-shirt!'”) and he also highlights how boring it is to have such a carefree wardrobe:

Sometimes when I watch old classic movies, it’s hard not to notice that people used to dress better. And I think it’s sort of a shame that people don’t do that anymore. Maybe I should try that. Casablanca? Nah. North By Northwest? Nah. From Russion With Love? Nah. Rebel Without A Cause? Yeeeaaah.
