In the biggest royal scandal since Prince William got his hair Photoshopped back on by Vanity Fair, fancy princess Kate Middleton has been caught shopping on Amazon like one of us commoners.
According to Elle Decor, Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, has reportedly been doing some last-minute online shopping for Prince George‘s first birthday on Tuesday. And her overnight shopping habits might have gone unnoticed if not for an eagle-eyed young woman named Irina who was interning for Jupiduu, a German company that makes little wooden toddler slides. The intern reportedly noticed that the shipping address on one order was Kensington Palace, where Prince William and Kate Middleton live, and everyone promptly freaked out.
“Thank goodness Irina, our intern, became a little bit suspicious when she was processing the order,” said founder and managing director Ken Buschmann to Elle Decor. The order for the little blue £160 slide was allegedly placed on Amazon’s UK site in the name of Prince George’s nanny, but according to Elle Decor was presumably placed with the approval of George’s parents.
Of course, the slide company is wasting no time hoping to capitalize on the Prince George effect. Everything associated with that kid sells out instantly, and the Jupiduu slide is likely no exception.
“We are delighted to honor this order,” Buschmann said. “We are sure that George will have lots of fun with his blue slide, the ‘Blue Whale,’ and of course we will go out of our way with the royal gift wrapping. We also want to enclose a thank you letter asking for a photo of little George with his new slide.”
