Generally, when we think of high heels, we think that they should not be worn with socks. Right? That’s kind of part of the whole deal?

Well, throwing common sense back in our face today is designer Rachel Comey, who came up with a pair of socks that she intended — intended! — to be worn with heels. The socks are mesh and slightly transparent, have a thick seam up the back and details that peek right out of the toe — kind of like toe cleavage, but just decorations — and is a study in red and white. They’re available on her website for the relatively reasonable price of $39, and were designed in collaboration with Hansel from Basel.

I never thought I’d say this, but I actually appreciate what she’s doing here. It’s kind of a very grown-up take on Mary-Janes with little white socks (and also far less pedophilia-esque), and a very, very grown-up take on socks with sandals (which, for the record, should never really be done anyway). I’m not 100% certain that I would ever rock it, but I feel like it’s the kind of thing that I would see on someone else and think looked all kinds of interesting — interesting that I will likely never achieve.

But what do you think? Is this something you would ever wear? Really, HOW DO YOU FEEL?
