Fast food trying to go high end: it’s officially a trend. First Burger King tried to class it up by adding booze-less brunches in select markets, and now White Castle is releasing their very own scented candle. Nest Fragrances produced the candle, which reportedly smells like “steam grilled on a bed of onions.”

The limited-edition candles sell for $10 a pop and will be sold at selected White Castles around the country. They’re only available during May (which is apparently National Hamburger Month!), and some of the proceeds will go to Autism Speaks.

I, for one, am sad it took so long for someone to come up with this idea. Does anyone else remember the episode of 16 and Pregnant (or, wait, it might have been Teen Mom) where lovable shlub Gary, after a fight with his fiancee Amber, treated her to a romantic dinner of meat loaf from Cracker Barrel? He went to the Yankee Candle shop and tried to find a candle whose scent wouldn’t clash with the sensuous odor of the meat loaf. Since I don’t have Smell-O-Vision on my TV, I don’t know if he succeeded, but if there had just been a White Castle candle handy he could have just grabbed one and called it a day. Poor Gary. First Amber, now this.
