Kate Winslet got married! In secret! To a man whose legal name is Ned Rocknroll (stylized, apparently, to be Rock’nRoll sometimes?).
The ceremony took place earlier this month in New York City. Winslet was given away by her Titanic costar Leonardo DiCaprio “in an intimate service.” So intimate, in fact, that parents weren’t aware:
The service is said to have been so private that even Kate’s parents weren’t even aware she was walking down the aisle again.
Ned’s father Robert told The Sun: ‘It’s not something I know of – but nothing would surprise me with those two.’
Winslet’s spokesman added, ‘I can confirm that Kate Winslet married Ned Rock’nRoll in NY earlier this month in a private ceremony attended by her two children and a very few friends and family. The couple had been engaged since the summer.’
Rocknoll (born Ned Abel Smith) is the nephew of Sir Richard Branson. Sparks initially flew between he and Winslet during a getaway on Branson’s private island (though Winslet was seeing model Louis Dowler at the time). Sidenote: during that same getaway, Winslet rescued Branson’s elderly mother from his burning mansion. Also, this whole thing seems made-up.
Though our photo database pegs him as simply “businessman Ned Rocknroll,” Buzzfeed found what appears to be his LinkedIn profile (seems legit), which describes his position, nebulously, as “Head of Marketing Promotion and Astronaut Experience at Virgin Galactic.”
So, Kate Winslet married a man named Ned Rocknroll who works for his billionaire uncle in space. This is her third marriage, the second for him.
Here’s one more photo of the happy couple:
