jessica alba's glamour cover for june 2014

It’s been a while since we’ve seen anything new from Jessica Alba. She hasn’t had a huge movie since, like, The Fantastic Four, she hasn’t given any terrifying interviews about her weight loss strategies as of late, and she’s already gone back to her signature brown hair after a brief fling with platinum blonde. We haven’t forgotten about her, though (the fondness our brothers/boyfriends/dude friends have for her face and body make her hard to ignore), and neither has Glamour. She looks beautiful on their June 2014 cover, and one particular little soundbite from her interview with the magazine is too adorable to miss.

When asked if we’ll ever see the historically modest star in a full-on nude scene, Jessica took the words straight out of my mouth, explaining:

I don’t want my grandparents to see my boobs. That’s it. It would be weird at Christmas. And, I mean, really, if you look at the movies I have done, getting naked would never ‘elevate’ the picture.

Straight dudes across the country are going to cry themselves to sleep tonight, but I completely love this quote. I don’t think there’s anything shameful or wrong about women choosing to do nudity for movies or TV or modeling (it can even be a really positive thing), but I’ve always wondered why more actresses don’t seem concerned about their families seeing their naughtier bits. Like, it totally won me over when Allison Williams said she has to prepare her parents ahead of time when she does a sex scene on Girls, because I can’t imagine a world where I wasn’t concerned about my family’s opinions on every aspect of my life. My grandparents are lovely and so are my breasts, but never the twain shall meet. The twain shall stay far, far, far away from each other.

I hope Jessica’s Glamour cover means we’ll be seeing more from her in the future, and I hope this quote is just a small preview of the other charming comments she has up her sleeve. I also sincerely hope that she never has to discuss her breasts over Christmas dinner.
