Night Terrors by Ashley Cardiff (Gotham, July 2013)

Okay, obviously this isn’t the greatest book about sex ever written.

It’s not even top ten.

But you clicked it, didn’t you? Think about your decisions next time.

As you may have deduced from the above cover, this book was written by our own editor (and illustrator) Ashley Cardiff. We’re telling you because we know Gloss readers will be  into it.

Night Terrors is a comedic memoir/essay collection about sexual development: it starts in latency with Ashley’s recurring sexual nightmares about Prince, goes through puberty, high school, narrowly avoiding a teenage orgy, dating in college, dating as in adult–all that terrifying stuff. It is really funny and smart and weird, just like the writing you’ve come to expect from Ashley… but with way more dick jokes.

The book, which will be published by Gotham, comes out July 2nd. We’ll definitely keep you posted on Night Terrors-related developments–expect some essays about Ashley’s angst and mortification at writing a memoir in her 20s–but for now, we just wanted to officially put this thing on your radar. It’s super good! We promise. And don’t just take our word for it–Publishers Weekly was real down with Night TerrorsThey even gave it a starred reviewed.
