Ryan Gosling just almost beat up a photographer for calling Eva Mendes “baby.” Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have been dating since September – they even wear one another’s clothes! Wearing one another’s clothes is cute. Threatening to beat up strangers is kind of possessive and weird and frankly unnerving.
We’re told the pair, in town for the premiere of their new movie, “The Place Beyond the Pines,” were at the Bowery Hotel Friday when a fashion photographer who had recently shot Mendes saw her and shouted, “Hey, baby!” “Ryan completely flipped out, and it got heated,” says an eyewitness. “Ryan got in the guy’s face and said, ‘Who are you calling baby?’ Eva had to jump in and calm everyone down before it came to fisticuffs. Ryan then made nice and shook the guy’s hand.”
I know some people are interpreting that behavior as Ryan Gosling being all manly and virile. Over at TheFrisky, they write:
America’s Superhero, Ryan Gosling, doesn’t just break up street fights and save people from being hit by cabs, he also won’t stand for other men catcalling his woman.
It is true that catcalling can be unpleasant! But, no. Still no. This isn’t cool. You don’t want to have a boyfriend you have to stop from punching other men. That’s especially true when they are men you have worked with in the past. Odds are, Eva Mendes probably had a friendly relationship with the photographer who had “recently shot her” and now her boyfriend has threatened to beat him up. It’s awkward and unpleasant for everyone.
Frankly, I think Ryan Gosling may have starred in a few too many action movies lately.
