I guess Jennifer’s not the only person in New York who’s delighted by the idea of marriage. 50-year-old designer and Project Runway: All Stars judge Isaac Mizrahi (who, for the record, we would not mind being friends with), announced his marriage to longtime boyfriend Arnold Germer on The Wendy Williams Show the other day. If anything, Mizrahi’s unexpectedly moving experience makes a case for the magical effect marriage has on people beyond changing your tax status, etc.
“I didn’t really expect it to be a ceremony, I thought it was just a bunch of paperwork,” Mizrahi said of his city hall wedding. But then, lo and behold, city hall had a chapel. “[The justice of the peace] said, ‘please come forward. Do you, Arnold Germer, take–‘ and I was like, boo hoo hoo! I started sobbing! It was one of those moments, I wasn’t expecting that kind of emotional impact. I think when it’s right, you know it.”
The designer said that some of his friends were annoyed he didn’t have a wedding, but that he plans to set things right with a big, fun, one year anniversary party. “And yes I will call Vera Wang, and she will do my dress,” he added. Won’t that be a sight for sore eyes? Mazel tov to Isaac and Arnold. May their marriage be long, happy, and full of well-designed clothing.
