Tom Brady Wears A Dog Collar, Tom Ford Says Controversial Things In V

Tom Brady Wears A Dog Collar, Tom Ford Says Controversial Things In V

Tom Brady plays football but the fashion industry has decided he’s just too beautiful for all that pummeling and grunting, so they’ve bestowed upon him a nebulous career in being handsome. Thus, here is Tom Brady wearing a Givenchy suit on the cover of V, photographed by Mario Testino, styled by Carine Roitfeld and interviewed by Tom Ford himself (the full-court press). The New England Patriots’ quarterback and husband to Gisele Bundchen probably said some pleasant things in that interview, but it’s Ford who says all the interesting stuff. More »

The 10 Best Athletes To Have Olympic Sex With, Depending On What You Want

Let me paint you a picture. You go to sleep in your own bed after a long day at work, and you come to in Olympic Village, surrounded by the sounds of vigorous Olympic sex. Don’t panic. I know it’s tempting to run around like you’re at an all-you-can-sex buffet, but you have to finesse this. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure you’d have a great time with every single person there, but if you think like that, you’ll get overwhelmed and squander this opportunity. More »

We Love Aimee Mullins: Legless Athlete, Model & Alexander McQueen’s Muse

We Love Aimee Mullins: Legless Athlete, Model & Alexander McQueen's Muse

I was surprised this morning to find the lovely Aimee Mullins featured on Buzzfeed. If you haven’t come across Mullins, she’s an athlete and occasional runway model who was born with missing fibula bones… and for whom Alexander McQueen commissioned a pair of beautifully carved wooden legs. This reminded me that Mullins was recently named a Global Brand Ambassador for L’Oreal, so that may explain a resurgence in interest. Anyway, the Georgetown-educated Mullins is an inspiration to all in addition to being gorgeous, so here’s a little love for her from us as well. More »

Poll: Was Venus Williams’ Wimbeldon Playsuit Really That Bad?

Poll: Was Venus Williams' Wimbeldon Playsuit Really That Bad?

No Venus! blasts The Daily Mail, calling Venus Williams’ Wimbeldon look “ghastly” and a “fashion disaster” all in one exceptionally wordy headline. Not that the Mail‘s writers are ever arbiters of reasonableness (or good taste), but apparently Venus is taking a lot of criticism for her outfit on the court. Now, it may not move terrifically (see left) and it’s not the most flattering romper I’ve ever seen but frankly: the woman is a professional athlete. If she can play tennis in it, doesn’t the outfit satisfy its purpose? More »

Honorary LadyScout of the Week: Dara Torres

Oftentimes we LadyScouts are concerned about the viability of “having it all.” “But I want to have it all,” we say, “give me it all! All of it! It! All!” And all too often we are told by “society” and “the man” and “articles” in “women’s magazines” that we can’t have it all, we can only have it some. Some? Eff that. Enter swimmer Dara Torres. Exclusive: Olympic Gold Medalist Evan Lysacek Is Getting into the Fashion Game

Last night at a benefit for Habitat for Humanity sponsored by Ferrero Chocolates, I got to meet Olympic gold medal winning figure skater Evan Lysacek (you might also know him from his successful stint on Dancing with the Stars). Evan’s costumes for the Vancouver Games were designed by Vera Wang. Now, Lysacek and Wang are collaborating on an upcoming menswear line, which Lysacek describes as his “new passion.” More »
