Red Carpet Rundown: The 2013 Met Gala Best Dressed List

Red Carpet Rundown: The 2013 Met Gala Best Dressed List

The 2013 Met Gala took place last night and it was all our worst fears realized interesting! While the theme–PUNK: Chaos to Couture–was largely ignored, it was still observed enough (and hilariously misunderstood) to slip up many attendees.

Since this isn’t a typical red carpet, our criteria for the Met Gala Best Dressed list is thus: in order to make the list, attendees had to (at least) allude to the theme while simultaneously looking like themselves. The best looks were a little off, or more than a little. More »

Red Carpet Rundown: The Least Offensive Looks At The 2013 Grammys

Red Carpet Rundown: The Least Offensive Looks At The 2013 Grammys

The 2013 Grammy Awards took place last night and few Grammys ceremonies have ever presented us with so many genuinely god awful dresses. While looking through our colleague Samantha’s fantastic live coverage of the red carpet last night, we realized two things: 1) Sam is a lot more generous than us and 2) there’s no fucking way anyone can make a reasonable best dressed list out of this caravan of nightmares.

So, we decided to reframe our usual awards ceremony post-mortem best dressed list as, simply, The Least Offensive Dressed. Let’s try our best. More »

Red Carpet Rundown: The Best Dressed At The 70th Annual Golden Globes

Red Carpet Rundown: The Best Dressed At The 70th Annual Golden Globes

The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards took place last night and hopefully you enjoyed our knee jerk reactions to the (mostly boring) red carpet. Unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of stand out looks last night, so consider this best dressed list… graded on a curve.

Still, red carpet reliables like Julianne Moore and Anne Hathaway looked grand, while surprise turns from Olivia Munn, Lucy Liu and Stacy Keibler kept things interesting.

…Mildly, at least. More »

Emma Stone Thinks It’s ‘Hilarious’ Vogue Named Her Best Dressed, As She Does Not Dress Herself

Emma Stone Thinks Itâs âHilariousâ Vogue Named Her Best Dressed, As She Does Not Dress Herself

Best dressed lists are silly. The reason they are silly is that 99.9% of all famous people have people called “stylists” whom they pay to pick out their clothes for them, to whom the credit really belongs. But nobody outside the fashion industry wants to buy a magazine featuring a “best stylist” list consisting of people they’ve never heard of, so we continue this charade of looking at pretty celebrities wearing pretty dresses and pretending they played any part in putting together those outfits themselves. Red Carpet Make-up Dos And Don’ts

Red Carpet Make-up Dos And Don'ts

Dressing (or being dressed) for the red carpet is no easy feat. Making sure your look is creative enough to get attention and classic enough to avoid the critics is rarely accomplished, and once you have the look down, the make-up is a whole other story. It’s easy to become, as Cher Horowitz preaches, a “Monet”: “From far away it’s ok, but up close it’s a big old mess!”

This year’s VMAs and Emmy‘s brought a whole slew of red carpet disasters and show stoppers, but it was the make-up that made the the look a masterpiece or a, well…Monet. Trend-setting makeup expert COVERGIRL is helping cover the best red carpet looks from the VMAs during their ClevverTV Fashion Faceoff: Red Carpet Edition, and calling out the stars who rocked their looks this year. Let’s take our own look at what happened in the beauty department at these fall awards shows. More »

12 People Who Should Have Been On Vanity Fair's International Best Dressed List

Yesterday brought the Vanity Fair International Best Dressed list… it was full of predictable choices (Kate Middleton nabbed the top spot, three years in a row) and a few surprises (who are half of you people?). Most surprising of all, however, were a few glaring omissions: no Cate Blanchett? No Tilda Swinton? Check out our gallery of stylish people who should have been included and then let us know your own list in the comments. More »

Ahead, we squeeze water from a stone with Carey Mulligan, Rooney Mara, Marion Cotillard, Cate Blanchett and more.

Academy Awards Red Carpet: Our Best Dressed List

Academy Awards Red Carpet: Our Best Dressed List

You guys sick of Oscars red carpet coverage yet? Yes? TOO BAD. Anyway, in light of all the ‘tude we’re giving attendees today (and me being a complete dick on Twitter last night), I’ve decided to just do a straight up Best Dressed list and put some positivity back in this cold bleak world. Yes, I fucking loved Gwyneth Paltrow‘s caped Tom Ford. But she wasn’t my favorite!  Yes, I was split on Michelle Williams but I included her anyway. Take a look and feel free to be a complete dick in the comments. It’s only fair! More »
