Sure, the ads of Beyonce for H&M are a bit risque, but why are people attempting to censor the photos themselves? More
The 2013 Met Gala took place last night and
it was all our worst fears realized interesting! While the theme–PUNK: Chaos to Couture–was largely ignored, it was still observed enough (and hilariously misunderstood) to slip up many attendees.
And slip up they did! We don’t know which was worse–those who showed up completely indifferent to the theme, or those who embarrassed themselves trying. Here’s a mix of both, in our picks for the 2013 Met Gala Worst Dressed. More
Gwyneth Paltrow is hitting the promotional trail really hard for her latest cookbook–a collection of recipes not featuring food–and her latest stop is the cover of People magazine’s Most Beautiful issue. We’re not saying Gwyneth Paltrow isn’t very beautiful, we’re just saying these things are especially hard to take seriously when the person on the cover has something to peddle. More
I’ve always considered myself a feminist. It surprises me that lately I seem to be in a minority.
We heard a while ago about how Beyonce considers herself a “modern day feminist” (she said we needed a new word for it) and Taylor Swift really doesn’t even want you to suggest she’s a feminist. When I was making a list of celebrities who do identify as feminists it… kind of took a while. More
Beyoncé is not the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of punk, but she’s been named an honorary chair of this year’s Costume Institute Gala celebrating the Punk: From Chaos to Couture exhibit opening this spring at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. More
When Beyonce told British Vogue she was a “modern day feminist” I initially thought, “There’s really only one kind of feminism.” Now I realize there can be a ton! What’s your favorite kind of feminism? You should pick it as you would a favorite kind of shoes. More
For many moons now, there have been rumors that Beyonce, Queen of American magazine covers, will be paying a diplomatic visit to the realm of British magazine covers this coming sprrrrr-ing (you can ahead and pretend I’m rolling my R’s, even though I can’t do that in real life). Specifically: the cover of Brrrr-itish Vogue. Now, we may have photographic evidence that this visit is indeed happening. More
Since Beyonce is everywhere all the time right now, she’ll be appearing in H&M‘s Summer ad campaign. The hugely famous singer, mother and star of Carmen: A Hip Hopera will appear in “television commercials, print ads and billboards.” BUT WAIT! There’s more. More
They somehow manage to look like a pair of those duct tape shoes that high schoolers make to win contests for prom. More
We’re so excited about Beyonce: Life Is But A Dream, by the way. We understand it’s actually a daring, lucid reimagining of The Tempest starring Beyonce as Prospero, Jay-Z as Ariel and Kanye West as Caliban (Kim Kardashian will provide comic relief, playing both Stefano and Trinculo). The magic of showbiz! More
On a related note, can cutouts please be over soon? More
I think she was just coming back from dinner when Vogue caught her on the way out and was all, “Hey Bey, can we take a couple pics?” and she was like, “Um, okay, but I ate some turkey and took melatonin and I’m kinda resting up for this huge Inauguration scandal that’s about to go down.” More
The 2013 Grammy Awards took place last night and few Grammys ceremonies have ever presented us with so many genuinely god awful dresses. While looking through our colleague Samantha’s fantastic live coverage of the red carpet last night, we realized two things: 1) Sam is a lot more generous than us and 2) there’s no fucking way anyone can make a reasonable best dressed list out of this caravan of nightmares.
So, we decided to reframe our usual awards ceremony post-mortem best dressed list as, simply, The Least Offensive Dressed. Let’s try our best. More
