Red Carpet Rundown: Women We Love, Looks We Loathe This Week At Cannes

Red Carpet Rundown: Women We Love, Looks We Loathe This Week At Cannes

So many of our favorite ladies are in France right now! Today’s Cannes Film Festival red carpet update features Jessica Chastain, Milla Jovovich (up there, looking amazing), Catherine Deneuve, Kylie Minogue, Aishwarya Rai, Marion Cotillard, Dita von Teese–but it’s still Cannes, so the fameballs are out in full force. Expect some really ridiculous looks from Bai Ling and co, too.

Ahead, all the events since our weekend red carpet roundup, featuring a Bvlgari party and a bunch of premieres, like As I Lay Dying, Cleopatra and Blood Ties. More »

Red Carpet Rundown: The Complete 2013 Met Gala Red Carpet, Chaos To Couture

Red Carpet Rundown: The Complete 2013 Met Gala Red Carpet, Chaos To Couture

It’s time, everyone. The 2013 Met Gala–or, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, if you’re nastyis upon us. While we have really, really mixed feelings about this year’s themePunk: Chaos to Couture–and we know most of the attendees are nervous about committing (despite our helpful styling suggestions!) this is still the biggest red carpet event of the year. Expect one or two unforgettable looks, lots of playing it safe, some real style, some real glamour and, hopefully, a whole lot of beautiful disasters.

So, per usual, we’ll be updating live throughout the red carpet. Come back and refresh often–expect new looks here every few minutes!

Let’s do this. More »

‘We Already Found One Black Girl. We Don’t Need You Anymore.’

'We Already Found One Black Girl. We Don't Need You Anymore.'

As we have noted many times, the fashion industry is notably slow to change its ways. From stereotypical, historically racist earrings by major designers to its continuously excused use of blackface on white models, fashion to barely using black models in runway shows has somehow not gotten the memo that racial diversity exists and the racism is — to put it lightly — “so out.” Even Victoria’s Secret model Chanel Iman openly admits to dealing with racism in fashion. Vogue Prints Hurricane Sandy Themed Editorial: How Do You Feel?

Vogue Prints Hurricane Sandy Themed Editorial: How Do You Feel?

Hurricane Sandy was undeniably bad. It left thousands without food, water or power, and knocked a bunch of people on their asses who were already clinging to a precarious existence. Thankfully, the good folks at Vogue are here to pretty up all that unsightly damage with top models in thousand dollar ball gowns. No, really! Vogue‘s February issue features a beautifully shot Annie Leibovitz editorial consisting of well-dressed young women hanging out with various first responders. I’m glad Vogue helped raise money for hurricane relief, but does that give them license to do something this gross? Or maybe I’m wrong, and expensive fashion and poverty stricken disaster areas are just two great tastes that taste great together. How do you feel? More »

Red Carpet Rundown: The 12-12-12 Concert To Aid Victims Of Hurricane Sandy

Red Carpet Rundown: The 12-12-12 Concert To Aid Victims Of Hurricane Sandy

Last night at NYC’s Madison Square Garden, many famous people gathered for a good cause: the 12.12.12 Concert, which benefited victims of Hurricane Sandy. Bruce Springsteen, Paul McCartney, Kanye West, the Who, Alicia Keys and more performed (Keys–apparently without irony–prompted concert-goers to raise their cellphones in the air).

Here’s what attendees wore on the red carpet. More »

The Best & Worst Dressed At The Golden Heart Gala

The Best & Worst Dressed At The Golden Heart Gala

Michael Kors was honored with a lifetime achievement at last night’s Golden Heart Gala in New York City, so naturally a bunch of very fancy people came out to support him, wearing their Kors finest. Check out Gwyneth Paltrow (in his Spring 2013 collection’s first red carpet outing), some metallics trending on Olivia Munn, plus models like Karolina Kurkova, Brooklyn Decker, Chanel Iman, and more. Red Carpet Rundown: All The Models At The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Red Carpet Rundown: All The Models At The Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

As we mentioned, the Committee on Social Thought Victoria’s Secret held its annual fashion show extravaganza last night and everything that came down the runway was appalling. As for the women that wore those nightmare creations, they walked the red carpet and did glamorous, fancy stuff all night (before retreating to their homes to eat solids by the fistful). Here’s what Miranda KerrAdriana LimaCandice SwanepoelChanel Iman, Doutzen Kroes and the rest of the angels wore. Hope you like micro-minis! More »

Gallery: Narrowing Down The Most Ridiculous Looks From The 2011 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show

Gallery: Narrowing Down The Most Ridiculous Looks From The 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show

At this point, it’s pretty obvious that the looks at the Victoria’s Secret fashion show are supposed to be ugly. It’s like one big, weird joke that the brand plays on people: take the world’s most conventionally attractive women, workshop their bodies beyond recognition for weeks with powdered milk and water fasting, and then obscure those bodies with the most comically, outrageously, unapologetically ugly shit on the planet. Here, we try and pick up the pieces from all the absurd outfits worn by Miranda Kerr, Adriana Lima, Candice Swanepoel, Chanel Iman, and the rest of the angels. We apologize to your eyeballs/brains in advance. More »
