What do Tilda Swinton, Helen Mirren, Zoe Saldana, Emma Watson, Iman, and Kate Middleton all have in common? They looked great on the red carpet all year. Here’s our list of the best dressed in 2011. Tomorrow, the worst!
Cinema Society & Piaget screened W.E. the other night in New York City and because W.E. is a film directed by Madonna (suck it, Zamyatin!) a whole lot of famous friends showed up in support. See what the Material Girl, Olivia Palermo, Parker Posey and more wore to the screening, and take note of Chloe Sevigny‘s fresh ’90s-inspired cut. More
Happy Birthday to Daze & Confused, which just turned twenty. In celebration of the milestone, they’ve rolled out twenty covers, featuring Kate Moss, Tilda Swinton, Bjork, Chloe Sevigny, Alicia Keys, The Kills, and more. Sifting through the photos, we were unsurprised to find one fashion industry-approved arbiter of cool after another. But! Not all models, Brit-pop frontmen and weirdo auteurs are created equally, so we ranked each cover for that most nebulous quality: coolness. More
What scares Chloe Sevigny? Oh, lots of things. Tom Cruise and wedges, for starters. More

Thanks to appreciators of last week’s Friday Style Icon, the latest video of Chloe Sevigny’s impersonator Drew Droege ended up many times over in my inbox: the half ridiculous, half weirdly astute mimic has filed a video on what Ms. Sevigny loves about Spring: “Spring cleaning… lady.” “Rusted razor belts” from the Rodarte collection. “The return of the persimmon.” “[Curling] up with Camus.” Look out for some heinous rompers and that great over-emphasized speech pattern*. We’re over-WUH-HELM-ed by it. More
I’m a fan of Chloe Sevigny. Or Chloë Sevigny as people with any keyboard proficiency like to call her. I think she has genuine style. And she was in Last Days of Disco, which ruled. Though I agree with her detractors that not every risk she takes pays off, she’s still always 90% more interesting than every other actress on a red carpet anywhere. Also, I’m hungover today and couldn’t come up with some kitschy ’90s show or guilty pleasure movie to mine for ideas. So here’s a bunch of great Chloe Sevigny style decisions and a bunch of things that resemble them. More
A roomy, practical shoulder bag is great for women who are always carrying their lives in handbags, while a crossbody is practical for women who need a hands/arm free carryall. The bucket bag, therefore, is a nice confluence of the two needs: roomy by virtue of its pail-shape but easy to carry because they usually have a very long strap. Here’s a bunch in all different colors, patterns and textures. More
Generally speaking, I think leopard print should be relegated to splashes: handbags, scarves, ballet flats, or even a shirt if paired with (for example) simple black trousers. I’m in the “always tone it down” camp though, and Paris Hilton/Kim Kardashian/Aubrey O’Day are firmly not. Still, I think a bold coat or a statement-making mini can work, so long as there’s a little balance and restraint. Here’s what we consider good uses and poor abuses of leopard. More
