10 Under $20: We Tried The Best Bright Eyeliners On A Budget!

Love bright, bold eyeliner? Me, too. The only thing that bums me out is when you spend money on something you think will be one gorgeous color, but it turns out to be a completely different shade despite the packaging and (possibly very obscure) name.

So, I decided to swatch a bunch of them on my eyes in order to see which offered the best colors! From deep magentas to iridescent purples to aquamarines, this guide has got you covered — all under $20! More »

See Every Piece From CoverGirlâs New Hunger Games: Catching Fire Capitol Collection

Do you remember a time when popular movies didn’t spawn beauty collections, fashion lines, or lingerie capsules? The latest movie/beauty tie-in is CoverGirl‘s makeup and nail art collection for the upcoming second installment of the Hunger Games franchise, Catching Fire. We got the campaign’s full looks a few months back, but now we can actually see the pieces themselves.

As someone who has neither read nor seen Hunger Games, we can’t much tell you what any of these things are in reference to–though all the flame motifs seem to make sense.

Ahead, see the polish, the overlays, the mascara and more. More »

10 Under $20: We Tried Tons Of Drugstore Mascaras To Find The Best For Your Buck!

10 Under $20: We Tried Tons Of Drugstore Mascaras To Find The Best For Your Buck!

It’s not just enough to wear mascara — you want to apply clean extensions of your natural lashes using excellent brushes, smooth formulas and solid volume. You don’t want clumps or stickiness or smears all over your eyes and underneath them; the “raccoon eye” look tends to exclusively work well in the high fashion world and is not so appropriate for, say, your first day at a new job when you want your eyes to look bright and defined.

Unfortunately, mascaras can get pricey. As a result, we tried out 10 products for under $20 in order to let you know which are the best ones! More »

Makeup Inspired By: When You Wish Upon A Star (In The Magic Kingdom, At Least)

Makeup Inspired By: When You Wish Upon A Star (In The Magic Kingdom, At Least)

So, if there were makeup inspired by my youthful optimism combined with fireworks and castles and weirdly expensive glowsticks, this would be it. More »

Shopping Guide: Our Favorite Spring Lipsticks, Glosses And Stains

Shopping Guide: Our Favorite Spring Lipsticks, Glosses And Stains

It’s Springtime! That means big changes to makeup routines: gone is the matte skin, the moody ’90s lip colors, the heavy mascara, the cat’s eyes. Instead, skin gets dewier, cheeks get highlighted, liner is going from black to electric blue and moss green and lips are getting real, real bold.

This is the second of a few Spring beauty features we’ve got planned for May–the first is here. Right now we’re focusing on that tried and true warm weather character: the statement-y Spring lip.

Spring 2013 runways from Jason Wu to Prada (that’s Kati Nescher on the Prada runway up there) showed a variety of bold lips in shades from saturated pinks to electric corals and bright reds. Don’t be afraid, though! While bold lipsticks can be intimidating, a minimal, fresh face and a bright lip is easy to wear and really flattering.

We have been testing LOTS of lipsticks and stains these past few weeks and ahead you’ll find some of our favorites from NARS, Tarte, MAC, Hourglass, Make Up For Ever, Tom Ford and more… More »
