Shopping Guide: Our Favorite Spring Lipsticks, Glosses And Stains

It’s Springtime! That means big changes to makeup routines: gone is the matte skin, the moody ’90s lip colors, the heavy mascara, the cat’s eyes. Instead, skin gets dewier, cheeks get highlighted, liner is going from black to electric blue and moss green and lips are getting real, real bold.

This is the second of a few Spring beauty features we’ve got planned for May–the first is here. Right now we’re focusing on that tried and true warm weather character: the statement-y Spring lip.

Spring 2013 runways from Jason Wu to Prada (that’s Kati Nescher on the Prada runway up there) showed a variety of bold lips in shades from saturated pinks to electric corals and bright reds. Don’t be afraid, though! While bold lipsticks can be intimidating, a minimal, fresh face and a bright lip is easy to wear and really flattering.
