I’m A Female Drag Queen

I'm A Female Drag Queen

I found myself alone at Mad Myrna’s, Alaska’s biggest gay cabaret and nightclub, exactly two weeks after my divorce was finalized. I had married my first boyfriend after an impossibly trite high school romance at the much-too-young age of 18, filled with the sort of hopeful nonsense that love is all you need. After 6 years, it turned out we both needed much more than that, and called it quits. More »

Gallery: All Of The Fabulous Outfits From RuPaul's 'Responsitrannity' Video

The prolific RuPaul has a new music video out. It’s called “Responsitrannity” and it’s basically a commercial for RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, but it’s so fab that I just can’t get mad at it. In the video, RuPaul dances around in a magical Lisa Frank spacescape with famous friends and show contestants alike. There’s sass, fierceness, and much vivacious exuberance. The overarching message? Gallery: Leland Bobbé's Mesmerizing Half-Drag Portraits

I got great feedback [on the initial portrait] so I decided to reach out to other drag queens using Facebook as my main means of communication. My shot with Flux wasn’t this tight but I thought that by shooting very tight I could really emphasize the difference between the drag side and the man side. I’ve now shot four people with many more on the way. We’ll see where this takes me…” More »

Gallery: Steven Meisel Creates Amazing Fake Ads For W [NSFW]

When reading W‘s art and fashion issue, you might want to pay close attention to the pages and pages of ads you normally skip through to get to the editorial content. This is because, scattered among the ads for actual products, are nine completely fake ads for fake products shot by the wonderful Steven Meisel. They star such familiar faces as Karen Elson, Linda Evangelista, and good old Joan Rivers, and I happen to think they’re a pretty brilliant marriage of fashion and art. More »
