I’m typically not a celeb-envier; all the cameras, attention, rumors and stress sound…well, stressful. But when I see photos of awesome people geting together at the TIME 100 Gala last night and hanging out like it ain’t no thang, it’s hard not to be jealous. People like Amy Poelher and Jimmy Fallon and Gabrielle Giffords…it’s enough to make me want to invent something awesome, produce a movie starring myself and show up at events in really expensive evening wear (i.e. not Forever 21/H&M, like my usual get-up)…
Out of curiosity, though, who invited Christina Aguilera? More
It’s been a rough few days for women who really love jaunty pearl accessories. Not only did Margaret Thatcher pass away, so did Lilly Pulitzer. Was Lilly Pulitzer a feminist? Yeah. Sure. Probably. Seems like it. She was certainly someone I grew up with, and these are very specific memories brought to mind by these very specific dresses. More

Every few months there’s some fashion editorial/event/publicity stunt in which someone has made a dress out of something not traditionally used to make dresses. Recent examples include cheese, gummi bears, toilet paper, roadkill, beetle wings, 3000 cow and yak nipples… In the time between those stories, we hear of industrious teenagers making prom dresses from similarly unlikely materials: cardboard, homework, etc… More

Thanksgiving is about two things: trying not to argue with your family and eating your face off. Sometimes those overlap!
Oh, Thanksgiving is also about pretty autumn colors like cranberry, pumpkin, wines and plums. Here, we have assembled a gallery of under $300 dresses (with a wide range of prices) that are nice enough for a formal dinner occasion but forgiving enough to account for that delicious third helping of stuffing. Please note that if you’re not embarrassed of your Thanksgiving potbelly, by all means buy a bodycon dress and own it.
For the rest of us–who go a little too overboard–here’s a handy guide to empire waists, generous cuts and shirt dresses with removable belts.
This week Courtney Love debuted a new fashion line called Never The Bride. Some people like it and some people hate. But more importantly: How does it compare to vintage Courtney style? More
Are they… inappropriately adorable?
Over half the teenagers attempting to attend the Stansbury High homecoming dance were turned away at the door because they were wearing dresses that revealed their knees. Also, this happened now. Now, not in 1929 or whenever this would last have been regarded as a shocking statement.
The students have started a Facebook page with photos from girls not allowed into the dance. Check these picures out (and hear the teens and their parents stories!) and see if there is a single dress you find inappropriate: More
