In the newest issue of luxury lifestyle magazine DuJour (a publication which sprung forth from the loins of Gilt Groupe), Kim Kardashian can be seen hanging out in a bikini and “natural” makeup and generally looking inoffensively pretty. At least, until you realize the photos are modeled off of Kim’s “personal icon” Elizabeth Taylor and read the numerous comparisons between the two in the accompanying profile. That may annoy you, if you are a person who thinks Elizabeth Taylor was more talented/glamorous/worthy of fame than old Kim K. But before you pass too much judgement, know that photographer Bruce Weber actually knew Elizabeth Taylor, and says that Kim reminds him of her. Whether or not you believe him, one thing’s for certain: it’s nice to see a retro-inspired celebrity photo shoot give Marilyn Monroe‘s ghost a rest, for a change. More »
