Remember, yesterday, when we were really happy about how good everyone looked at the Vanity Fair party for the TriBeCa Film Festival? How all the attendees looked so cool and understated and elegant? That was great!
Unfortunately, today’s Red Carpet Rundown brings you the exact goddamn opposite. Last’s night Hot Pink Party, thrown by the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, was a sad state of pinks (predictably), sequins, satin and general promness. More

A beautiful French friend told me that she’d read a study about the beauty buying habits of American women versus French women; she said that while American women spend the majority of their money on cosmetics, French women are suckers for skincare. I’m not sure of the exact study she cited (and 68% of all statistics are made up on the spot) but it seems to me the most crucial beauty investment a women can make is in the wellbeing of her skin. And champagne, too! And such a fun space. They had this elevator that was like an entire room, and it was super cool! It was like being on the Tower of Terror without the terror! Yes. There’s a lot to be said for that event.
But now that I’ve said all there it to be said for it, let’s talk about the rampant hypocrisy of the beauty industry. More
Readers, I have a confession to make: I have never, ever put on eye makeup.
I should clarify. I love mascara and wear it a lot. But liner? Shadow? No way. I’ve had my makeup done for a TV appearance or at a makeup counter before, and loved the way that it looked. But I’ve always felt clumsy about doing my own makeup, especially when it comes to eyes. Luckily, the wonderful Amber Katz, who runs Beauty Blogging Junkie, offered to give me a tutorial. More
