The story of Eva Braun scares the daylight out of me. You see, I’ve never been terribly good at telling the difference between “someone who is good” and “someone who is nice to me.” There are tricks you can use – like watching how someone treats a waiter, this is the best test I can think of – but I’ve never considered it as out of the question that I might be able to fall in love with someone really terrible.
