Yesterday, we brought you images from H&M and Versace‘s menswear collection, which was a whole lot more Zoolander than we anticipated. Perhaps in an act of cosmic balancing, the retailer has also released the Fall 2011 campaign for its Conscious collection and it’s really, really lovely. The campaign stars Frida Gustavsson and Caroline Brasch Nielsen voguing like ’90s supermodels in a bunch of beautiful dark floral prints and chic basics. Good look picking a favorite shoe, though. Back when Prada’s moody Fall 2011 campaign images first dropped, everyone was asking, “Who is that girl?” alongside a gorgeous, lounging Frida Gustavsson. Turned out she was Kelly Mittendorf, an Arizona-native with no runway experience (!) and perhaps the most unmistakable face we’ve ever seen on a model. More

I am a Jean Paul Gaultier fangirl. Still, I wasn’t completely sold on the idea of “punk” (mohawks, tartan, fishnets) meets “can-can” (full skirts and ruffles galore!), as was Gaultier’s description of his idea for Spring 2011 couture. At first glance, the collection struck me as a little too much in a few too many places, but if you squint past the crazy couture-spectacle details (that are part of the fun anyway) you can spot Gaultier’s bread and butter: razor sharp lines, immaculate tailoring, and a whole lot of good humor. On Friday, Jessica Pauline Ogilvie filed a brief on the sometimes disturbingly hyper-sexual–or at least misleadingly sexually sophisticated–representation of teenage girls in the fashion world. She chose a photo of high schooler Lindsey Wixson pulling down a pair of Wayfarers in standard Lolita-allusion. She could have just as easily linked to this video of Wixson in a revealing cut-out Versace gown, while Donatella herself looks on and coos over Wixson’s “sexy” and “gorgeous” look. More
