High-end UK department store Selfridges has commissioned seven shorts as part of its Film Project, in which designers like Ann Demeulemeester, Comme des Garçons and Gareth Pugh pair off with a director of their choice to convey their vision in movement. Awesomely, A.F. Vandevorst‘s offering–directed by Stef Viaene–stars the gorgeous Delfine Bafort… as a horse. More
Us Gloss editors have occasionally described the site as “fashion for people who care more about Star Wars.” Now, an artist named John Woo–not the Face/Off guy, though that’d be great–has deftly combined the two in some fantastic illustrations. Here, beloved Star Wars characters (well, and Jar Jar) are clad in the likes of Gareth Pugh, Thom Browne and Comme des Garcons. We’re posting a few of our favorites, but do yourself a big favor and visit his Etsy store. More

From allegedly envelope-pushing editorials to church windows on runways, fashion loves a religious trope. But appropriating Christian symbols for the sake of provocation isn’t just the domain of outre French fashion glossies! With today’s shopping guide, mere mortals can wear a shirt or dress featuring deeply pointless religious iconography. Bless you! Here goes… More
It pays to be a fashion editor; style follows you everywhere. As it happens, the fantastically stylish fashion editor of Dazed & Confused, Katie Shillingford (she of the excellent hair), got married last week and wore a wedding gown by her college buddy. …Her college buddy named Gareth Pugh. More

The mood in Paris was somber. The runways saw countless covered figures (loads of sleeved dresses, capes and capelets topped dozens of wideleg trousers), though these are Fall collections, after all. Some silhouettes were unapologetically ladylike (like at Miu Miu and Nina Ricci) but there seemed to be a storm cloud over many of the shows: Chanel was staged in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the Alexander McQueen collection was in honor of “the Ice Queen and her court,” and the backdrop for Lanvin’s austere looks was a weeping willow. Dark, maybe, but plenty to love.

The Academy Awards–otherwise known as The Superbowl for Women–is around the corner, which means much speculation about what all the lady attendees will wear (but no speculation about bro-xedos because man fashion on the red carpet is the only thing more boring and safe than lady red carpet fashion). So here’s a gallery of the women nominated (or women in films that are otherwise nominated, eg Tilda Swinton) and our guess for their Oscar night looks. More
So Brit “enfant terrible” Gareth Pugh showed at Florence’s Pitti Uomo. Ruth Ogben (who recently did that also-trippy Givenchy video) directed the bit. I know it’s ten minutes long but it’s Friday and if you’ve got that much time to kill, you should check it out. The clothes are extraordinary. More
