It’s almost like the two are taking turns wearing nice things and ugly things, so as to spread out the positive/negative attention equally. More
The Cannes film festival has begun–as you know from Bill Murray dressing like a crazy person at the Moonrise Kingdom photocall yesterday. Anyway, here’s the always fancy opening ceremony red carpet, featuring stalwarts like Tilda Swinton, Diane Kruger and Jessica Chastain, but also famewhores and weirdos. And not a lot of great dresses. More
We’re always surprised by which designer collaborations cause a stir and which don’t: Versace for H&M inspired mass hysteria, Jason Wu for Target sold out in five minutes, but we browsed Giambattista for Macy’s and it was downright serene. Anyway, we’re really surprised that people aren’t losing their minds with excitement for Marni‘s H&M collection. By which we mean, it looks awful pretty. Here’s some campaign shots, which have that dreamy, lush suburbia quality that Sofia Coppola always seems to be after. Coppola, by the way, was originally said to be shooting the campaign, but FGR says these were shot by Markus Jans, which we assume means Coppola’s shooting television spots. Liu Wen and Imogen Poots star. More
Next up for Macy’s Impulse will be the amazing, underrated, genius-of-draping herself, Doo.Ri Chung. More
Italian-born Giambattista Valli is an amazingly gifted designer (not to mention a newly-minted member of the couture club). Yet despite his fairy tale dresses and voluminous, fantastical proportions, Valli doesn’t have a lot of name recognition stateside. …We’re wondering if that’s about to change, as the designer’s capsule collection for Macy’s is now available for view and the pieces are pretty great. From the looks of it, Valli x Macy’s is the ideal masstige collaboration: the designer’s style and vision and trademarks are visible all over, but interpreted in more affordable fabrics and accessible shapes. Also, the leopard print coat rules. Check it out! More
Is some catty stylist trying to sabotage her career? Because that’s the only reason I can think of to put her in this clashing, testicle-adorned get up. More
If you like heels, you probably have  at least one red pair. Whether it’s an eye-catching fire engine hue in patent or a deeper, richer crimson in suede, nothing really ignites a simple white shirt/jeans combination like a pair of red pumps. Obviously, you can style them other ways, as they’re awfully versatile. Here’s 14 we’re currently into. More
Wow. So, the most recent designer collaboration with Macy’s involved serious fashion heavyweight, Karl Lagerfeld. Now, as that capsule collection prepares to drop (check out him sketching and being Karl here) we learn of two more major/majorly intriguing new collabs for the department store. More

We love Diane Kruger. Maybe it’s because the Chanel runway is effectively her closet? Or that the former model is flawless looking? Regardless, Kruger allegedly doesn’t use a stylist and however she shows up–whether she’s working minimalism, intricate beading or retro silhouettes–she always looks memorable. Also, if this point hasn’t been made everywhere it should be: the woman’s makeup is always, always, always on point. Please enjoy the following gallery of amazing red carpet looks from Diane Kruger, today’s Friday Style Icon. More
The mood in Paris was somber. The runways saw countless covered figures (loads of sleeved dresses, capes and capelets topped dozens of wideleg trousers), though these are Fall collections, after all. Some silhouettes were unapologetically ladylike (like at Miu Miu and Nina Ricci) but there seemed to be a storm cloud over many of the shows: Chanel was staged in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, the Alexander McQueen collection was in honor of “the Ice Queen and her court,” and the backdrop for Lanvin’s austere looks was a weeping willow. Dark, maybe, but plenty to love.

Here we have Karl Lagerfeld flanked by Carine Roitfelt on the left, and Emmanuelle Alt–Roitfeld’s new replacement as editor-in-chief of French Vogue–on the right. Up until now I was pretty sure they hung out and had super glamorous sleepovers, opening bottles of Dom Perignon with their teeth and revealing their magnificent wings to each other but… nothing stops Karl Lagerfeld from being a defender of truth. Or, at least, his truth. He explained his feelings about Alt’s new appointment as EIC to WWD: More
