Talk about burying the lede. As a follow up to its Met Ball coverage, Women’s Wear Daily has a series of soundbites from Ricardo Tisci of Givenchy up on its site today. He talks about how pleased he was with how all his looks turned out (including Beyonce‘s, oy), but the interesting part doesn’t come until the end, when he discusses Kim Kardashian. (No, I never thought I would type that sentence.) More
It’s time, everyone. The 2013 Met Gala–or, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, if you’re nasty–is upon us. While we have really, really mixed feelings about this year’s theme–Punk: Chaos to Couture–and we know most of the attendees are nervous about committing (despite our helpful styling suggestions!) this is still the biggest red carpet event of the year. Expect one or two unforgettable looks, lots of playing it safe, some real style, some real glamour and, hopefully, a whole lot of beautiful disasters.
So, per usual, we’ll be updating live throughout the red carpet. Come back and refresh often–expect new looks here every few minutes!
Let’s do this. More
The mermaid-like actress told WWD that she reacted to the offer with a “fuck yeah,” because she’s cool enough to be candid. More
Last night, we liveblogged the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. This morning, we’re sifting through the many outrageous looks and trying to come up with ten that might reasonably be considered best. Granted, being on the best dressed list at an MTV awards show is kind of like being “one of the world’s biggest rodents.” You’re still at an MTV awards show.
…Uh. So! Here are our picks for the best dressed at the 2013 MTV Movie Awards. More
Last night, Elle celebrated Women in Music with a big party at the Edison Ballroom in New York City. Attendees included famous women in music along with famous women in fashion and then some not terribly famous women. Here’s what they wore. More
Beyoncé is not the first name that comes to mind when one thinks of punk, but she’s been named an honorary chair of this year’s Costume Institute Gala celebrating the Punk: From Chaos to Couture exhibit opening this spring at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. More
If you, like me, found your fashion sense was titillated by the promising looking drawings of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” world tour costumes that Givenchy released last week, get stoked: the storied fashion brand (and skirt-maker to Kanye West) has since released some actual photos of RiRi wearing the stuff, and it’s every bit as resplendent as I’d hoped. Posted yesterday on the Givenchy Facebook page, the outfits are shown in a few different states of layering, and they do a good job of conveying a sort of regal, queen-of-pop attitude. They’re neither as colorful nor as butt-baring as what she wore on her last world tour, but maybe she’s going for a more ladylike vibe? (Ha, ha?) Or maybe we just haven’t seen the more butt-baring looks yet? Either way, I’m into it. More
Emily DiDonato has been a successful model for quite some time but she recently started making inroads toward full on name recognition with the one-two punch of 1) Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition work and 2) apparently striking up a romantic relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.
Since she may be on the verge of supermodel status, let’s take this opportunity to examine DiDonato’s rather impressive career. More
As if you needed any more evidence that Natalia Vodianova is a genetically perfect race of dystopian replicant, here it is. More
The Fall 2013 Givenchy show walked in Paris yesterday and, predictably, a shitload of famous people stopped by. Some glittery front row regulars (Kanye West, with girlfriend Kim Kardashian in tow, Amanda Seyfried, newly minted fashion darling Jessica Chastain, etc) and some industry big hitters (Carine Roitfeld, Anna Dello Russo) were all in attendance.
How many of them wore sunglasses at night? More

The much-anticipated (thanks to Anne Hathaway‘s many ladymag rounds, in which she discussed her crash diet tirelessly) Les Miserables saw its world premiere in London last night, and all its fancy, fancy stars turned out. Sadly, it was not a high point for fashion.
Azealia Banks and a (SFW) visual pun involving condoms was just too much for the newsstand-going public. More
