Talk about burying the lede. As a follow up to its Met Ball coverage, Women’s Wear Daily has a series of soundbites from Ricardo Tisci of Givenchy up on its site today. He talks about how pleased he was with how all his looks turned out (including Beyonce‘s, oy), but the interesting part doesn’t come until the end, when he discusses Kim Kardashian. It’s time, everyone. The 2013 Met Gala–or, the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute Gala, if you’re nasty–is upon us. While we have really, really mixed feelings about this year’s theme–Punk: Chaos to Couture–and we know most of the attendees are nervous about committing (despite our helpful styling suggestions!) this is still the biggest red carpet event of the year. Expect one or two unforgettable looks, lots of playing it safe, some real style, some real glamour and, hopefully, a whole lot of beautiful disasters.
So, per usual, we’ll be updating live throughout the red carpet. Come back and refresh often–expect new looks here every few minutes!

If you, like me, found your fashion sense was titillated by the promising looking drawings of Rihanna’s “Diamonds” world tour costumes that Givenchy released last week, get stoked: the storied fashion brand (and skirt-maker to Kanye West) has since released some actual photos of RiRi wearing the stuff, and it’s every bit as resplendent as I’d hoped. Posted yesterday on the Givenchy Facebook page, the outfits are shown in a few different states of layering, and they do a good job of conveying a sort of regal, queen-of-pop attitude. They’re neither as colorful nor as butt-baring as what she wore on her last world tour, but maybe she’s going for a more ladylike vibe? (Ha, ha?) Or maybe we just haven’t seen the more butt-baring looks yet? Either way, I’m into it. More

Emily DiDonato has been a successful model for quite some time but she recently started making inroads toward full on name recognition with the one-two punch of 1) Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition work and 2) apparently striking up a romantic relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal.

The Fall 2013 Givenchy show walked in Paris yesterday and, predictably, a shitload of famous people stopped by. Some glittery front row regulars (Kanye West, with girlfriend Kim Kardashian in tow, Amanda Seyfried, newly minted fashion darling Jessica Chastain, etc) and some industry big hitters (Carine Roitfeld, Anna Dello Russo) were all in attendance.
