Are Designer Collaborations Always Disappointing?

Lanvin <3 H&M hysteria is sweeping the internet/fashion circles/New York City/second-tier cities (a couple weeks from now) and everyone in between. The build-up to high-profile designer collaboration mania occurs in precisely the same sequence every time: rumors swirl, the collaborator is announced, conjecture about the look of the collection runs rampant on blogs, people make slideshows of things they want translated from runway to big-box retail, a few blurry images leak one at a time and then BAM! The whole internet loses its shit like little girls at a Justin Bieber concert right when he starts dancing like Buffalo Bill in Silence of the Lambs. Kids these days!
