Galley: Grace Coddington And Steven Klein Join Forces To Create Beautifully Weird Spring Editorial

We here at The Gloss like to talk about how awesome Vogue creative director Grace Coddington is as a person, but a quick search reveals that we haven’t explicitly made a point of showing you very much of her actual fashion editing work. Which is a shame, because it is great! For the January issue of US Vogue, The Cod enlisted Steven Klein to photograph models Carolyn Murphy and Karen Elson wearing colorful spring 2013 get-ups as they wandered through various bizarre, retro-futuristic scenarios. The resulting editorial feels odd, retro, glamorous and modern, all at the same time. Maybe fashion can be art, after all. More »

Gallery: Six Surprising Facts From Grace Coddington's Memoir (Plus Some Great Vintage Photos)

The latest issue of American Vogue gives us a sneak peek into Vogue creative director Grace Coddington‘s memoir, and from what I’ve read of it so far, it’s absolutely fascinating. It starts with Grace leaving her home in Wales at age 17 to go to London and be a model in 1958(!), and goes on to detail many stories of the naughty, bohemian, fun life she had there, St. Tropez, and elsewhere. It also contains many surprising facts. Here are six of them (all taken from the excerpt), plus the great vintage photos from Grace’s life that Vogue included with it. If the rest of the book is as good as this part, I’m going to burn through it in a week. More »

Gallery: Lost Lost Photos Of Vogue Creative Director Grace Coddington

U.S. Vogue creative director Grace Coddington has been beautiful for longer than you’ve been alive. This is a fact. Even after she left modeling to pursue a career in media, cameras just loved to look at her. For a few years, one of those cameras belonged to her (now ex) husband Willie Christie, and his talented eye certainly did her justice. An upcoming by-appointment-only art show of Christie’s work at London’s Ivy Club features photos he took of her over 35 years ago that are just now seeing the light of day for the first time(!) Here are a few of them; check out Vogue‘s website to see the rest. More »
