Friday Style Icon: '90s Gwen Stefani

Gwen Stefani’s outfits are admirably consistent, in that she always looks like herself. Thus, it’s hard to criticize even her weaker choices, because they still look like genuine reflections of her style. These days, she’s more into couture than belly shirts, but I still love ’90s Gwen. Here’s a few looks from the trio of No Doubt videos that made Tragic Kingdom so huge, “Just a Girl,” “Spiderwebs,” and “Don’t Speak.” More »

Gallery: The Use and Abuse of Leopard Print

Gallery: The Use and Abuse of Leopard Print

Generally speaking, I think leopard print should be relegated to splashes: handbags, scarves, ballet flats, or even a shirt if paired with (for example) simple black trousers. I’m in the “always tone it down” camp though, and Paris Hilton/Kim Kardashian/Aubrey O’Day are firmly not. Still, I think a bold coat or a statement-making mini can work, so long as there’s a little balance and restraint. Here’s what we consider good uses and poor abuses of leopard. More »

Shopping Guide: 18 Eye-Catching Printed Handbags For Spring

We’ve already discussed the ubiquity of printed pants on the all 2011 runways, but since Spring is the actual season to focus on right now, we figured we’d try to incorporate those prints into our wardrobe in a less potentially disastrous way: on our arms. For those a bit hesitant to don a loud, eye-catching print, handbags, clutches and backpacks offer that little shock of color without making you look like a circus clown.
