It’s couture week and so far the big news of Spring 2012 is that Bill Gayten‘s collection for Christian Dior was better than his first. The other news? Karl Lagerfeld presented his Chanel couture collection on a runway that looked like the inside of a plane. …Which makes sense because everyone loves planes, right? Anyway, there was some star power in the front row: Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger, Eizabeth Olsen, Vanessa Paradis‘ first appearance since her split from Johnny Depp and, of course, fashion’s Darth Vader himself, Karl Lagerfeld. This past weekend, I took a trip up to Quebec for “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk,” a sprawling exhibition in honor of Jean Paul Gaultier’s 30+ years of enfant terrible-ness at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.
