One of our favorite male models, Andrej Pejic, was in Paris over the weekend making a triumphant return to the Jean Paul Gaultier catwalk. More
Great news for Andrej Pejic fans–and there are so many of you–he’s inked a major beauty deal. Pejic will star in ads for Kokorico, the first men’s fragrance from the house of Jean Paul Gaultier in 16 years. More
Well, you can’t win them all. No matter what you do, there seems to be a 10% factor of those who are going to hate on you. Although fans of Amy Winehouse and Jean Paul Gaultier swooned over his gorgeous Spring 2012 Couture show in Paris this week because it was not only stunning but was devoted to the late singer, her family were none to pleased with his choice. For his Spring 2012 Couture show in Paris, Jean Paul Gaultier decided to devote much of his energy to creating a tribute to the late Amy Winehouse. This inspiration is evident in the show’s hair, makeup, styling, and even many of the clothes; retro 60s beehives and winged eye liner abounded. Gaultier also put his own modern spin on Winehouse’s style with futuristic shapes and some very on-trend bright hair colors. “I think Amy Winehouse was truly a fashion icon,” Gaultier told WWD. He also said he “felt compelled to celebrate her style because magazines have failed to do so.” Click through for some of his most Winehouse-ian looks. More

Fashion has a complicated relationship with bigotry, whether it’s faux-provocative blackface editorials, runway shows starring exclusively white models or cultural appropriation run amok (would you like some Mickey Rooney with your American Apparel “conical Asian hat“?). Therefore, it came as no surprise when more than a few fashion luminaries stepped forward to defend former Christian Dior creative director John Galliano in the wake of his drug and alcohol-fueled rant. A few weeks ago, I realized I hadn’t taken a proper vacation since joining TheGloss back in October. As much as I love New York City, it has a way of tiring you out and that’s as much as I’ll say about that. I figured it might be a cool opportunity to take a train to Montreal for the long weekend, as I’d never been to Canada, the exchange rate was painless and I heard Canadians are like people, but nice. I also figured this would be an excellent excuse to visit The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk, a career retrospective of haute couture’s most beloved enfant terrible, showing at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. To make an obvious story short, I did exactly that. More
This past weekend, I took a trip up to Quebec for “The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier: From the Sidewalk to the Catwalk,” a sprawling exhibition in honor of Jean Paul Gaultier’s 30+ years of enfant terrible-ness at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. The exhibit will run for one more month and boasts about 120 couture and ready-to-wear pieces. My thoughts on the show are here, while this is a gallery of the looks and details I liked best. More

The lovely Marquita Pring is on a role: in the past year, she’s been appointed a face of Levi’s, walked for Gaultier and (so major for a model) worked with Steven Meisel… all at a size 12/14. Just don’t call her plus-size. More
