In preparation of Sunday’s festivities, we decided to go through old Grammy pictures and find the worst Grammy fashion disasters since 2000. The last 14 years have been an embarrassment of riches when it comes to fashion disasters, and I had to be especially selective as to keep this post within a reasonable length. More

How long until we start seeing headlines that scream “MOMMY FETISH?” More
Once upon a time, a 30-year-old singer wore a very, very low-cut dress to a fancy event. The dress did not become famous because it was pretty. It became famous because Jennifer Lopez was wearing it. More
Despite the fact that she’s widely loved as an actress–and lauded as a crusader for more positive body image–there’s been a hefty internet-wide backlash to Kate Winslet‘s recently-dropped Vogue cover. Of course, the problem has nothing to do with Winslet herself… and everything to do with Vogue‘s over-eager retouchers.
But the painting of Winslet on the November cover isn’t exactly new territory for Vogue–they recently hacked off Claire Danes‘ limbs, for one. Moreover, there are quite a few covers from the last ten years that rival Winslet’s for showcasing humans who don’t exactly resemble humans. Let’s take a look. More
Call them what you will: cutout dresses, sheer panel dresses, lace panel dresses, illusion dresses. The goal of them all is largely the same: to remind any and all viewers that the wearer of said dress is extremely naked underneath it. More
There are certainly a few celebrity collections we wouldn’t brand uncool–The Row and Victoria Beckham spring to mind–but very few famous people can just waltz in on a highly specialized industry and produce good work.
…Luckily, they all have giant design teams making the actual decisions for them. Hence, every now and again, an uncool celebrity brand gets it right.
Even Carlos by Carlos Santana. More
Earlier this week, Lily Collins stopped by the premiere of her new movie, The Mortal Instruments, wearing yet another cutout dress. Having covered so many examples of the remarkably banal trend, we finally just got sick of it all and declared them dumb. Or at least, frequently in very poor taste–they’re extremely popular with unapologetic fameballs for a reason.
Thus, we were inspired to wrangle up a collection of our least favorites, from recent disasters to some classic all-time worsts. Enjoy? More
There is not a single original or interesting idea at play here; it is completely one note, literal, over-the-top and accomplishes a single thing: it reminds people that under this poor excuse for a dress, the wearer happens to be very naked. More
You’ve really got to hand it to Jennifer Lopez: 13 years after she turned heads with her choice of Grammy Awards attire and some 43 years after she was born, she’s still causing prudes to hyperventilate with her hott bod and revealing clothing choices. But rather than go for the perfect amount of sideboob, this time she mixed it up by showing off her near-crotch instead. More
Anyone familiar with The Gloss‘ fashion coverage knows our opinion of music awards show red carpets: they are uniformly the worst.
…The thing about last night’s 2013 Billboard Music Awards? They were a different dimension of the worst. Every look was a jumble of ill-conceived ideas and bad planning.
Get ready for a few glorious pages of horrible to sublimely ridiculous red carpet moments, all in one place. Happy Monday! More
How young is too young to get cosmetic surgery? (Hint: It’s probably not under fifteen.) More
The real tragedy here is how great she looks in every other capacity. More
As we previously whined, coming up with a Best Dressed list from last night’s Grammys ceremony was like squeezing water from a goddamn stone.
Which brings us to the embarrassment of riches that is constructing a Worst Dressed list. We couldn’t even keep it to the standard ten! The 2013 Grammy Awards had to be one of the ugliest red carpets in recent memory… and ugly in so, so many ways.
So, E! does this seemingly deeply uncomfortable thing called the “Mani Cam” at the Grammys where they get celebrities to put their hands into a little box and run their fingers up and down, as if their fingers were tiny ballerinas. It’s to show off their nail polish. Some people are actually really good at it! Some celebrities fling their hands in there and then withdraw them as though they have been burnt. Here are pictures of the celeb manicures, which I captured by squatting in front of my television. More
