Gallery: Models Eating Pasta In Fashion Magazines

Recently, we spotted Lindsey Wixson in a Terry Richardon-shot editorial slurping some really gross-looking spaghetti. We (and a bunch of other blogs written by people with memories) pointed out that Richardson did the same with Crystal Renn in French Vogue. And then we realized “models eating pasta” is approaching editorial trope territory. I guess because it’s models! eating! pasta! It’s funny because it’s improbable! LOLOLOLOLOLOL More »

Campaign Stars: Andrej Pejic For Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring 2011

Andrej Pejic is burning up the fashion world, in both menswear and womenswear. For the Spring 2011 Marc by Marc Jacobs campaign (his first major ad coupled with his facetime for Jean Paul Gaultier) he does some light androgyny in girlish shorts alongside also-androgynous Dutch boy Jaco van den Hoven and pretty Ginta Lapina. Fashion Campaign Round-Up: Who's The Face of What Right Now

Here’s our favorites who didn’t make the cut but were still on every runway, in every campaign and generally just awesome-looking. More »

Models of the Decade: Carmen Kass

Models of the Decade: Carmen Kass

Carmen Kass grew up in Paide (population: less than 10,000), Estonia and she didn’t finish high school. At age eighteen, she traveled to Paris to pursue modeling and became one of the biggest supermodels on the planet. She dominated the first half of the decade with every major campaign you can name: Chanel, Fendi, Gucci, Givenchy, Chloe. Her long, gazelle-like limbs and delicate features are practically synonymous with J’Adore. Although she’s slowed her pace since, she’s still the muse to Michael Kors (and star of every campaign), she did Celine in 2010, and (bonus!) became  president of the Estonian National Chess League. She is one of Mario Testino’s absolute favorites. And one of ours, too. More »

The Greatest Fashion Campaigns of the Decade, Part I: 2000-2005

The Greatest Fashion Campaigns of the Decade, Part I: 2000-2005

Pick up any fashion magazine and you’re inundated by campaigns: usually a beautiful, thin woman dressed immaculately, photographed in some glamorous way. But what separates a truly great campaign from the hundreds that clog women’s glossies every season? It’s simple: a great campaign makes you forget that you’re being advertised to. When a great model, a great photographer and a great idea come together, the results are something we remember for years. This is Part I. More »
