Last night, celebrities gathered at Cipriani Wall Street for the Angel Ball, which benefits Gabrielle’s Angel Foundation, a charity raising money for the development of “more effective therapies for patients with leukemia, lymphoma, and related cancers.” The Angel Ball, of course, is its annual splashy fundraiser, which raises a few million dollars for a good cause and attracts supermodels (and more) from far and wide. Here’s what they wore. More
The spring/summer 2013 issue of V Magazine is the “dynamic duos” issue and features numerous pairings of creative people, like Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono, Devonte Hynes and Solange Knowles, and…Lindsey Wixson and Naomi Campbell? Yes, that’s right. In an editorial calle “Prime Time,” the 42-year-old goddess and the 18-year-old Terry Richardson muse (who are both referred to as “supermodels”) lounge around and talk about who knows what while looking blase about their daily hydration requirements. V doesn’t say what type of creative collaboration these two engaged in to be featured in this issue in such a way, but I guess they collaborated on this editorial, at the very least. More
Here at The Gloss, we love catching fashion magazines in their stubborn reliance on old clichĂ©. Whether it’s cartoonish carb-loading or yet another faux-provocative editorial featuring sexy nuns or still more grocery store spreads or just, uh, racism–apparently there’s a painfully small number of ideas in the world.
V Magazine’s latest issue features an editorial called The Discreet Charm of Kate Upton–shot by Sebastian Faena, it’s ostensibly an homage to Buñuel, but it’s also yet another fashion spread preoccupied with a bored, beautiful woman in designer clothes. Upton’s character appears to be having an affair (though she never sets down her Marc Jacobs bag)–while her many, many precursors are stuck with less glamorous household chores. But all of them are dressed to the nines!

Chanel had a splashy party last night, celebrating its the 80th anniversary of the ‘Bijoux De Diamants’ collection created by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. Naturally, a bunch of the brand’s very fancy friends and spokeswomen showed up: Blake Lively with her gigantor wedding ring, January Jones, Diane Kruger, Alexa Chung, a slew of models and more. They pretty much all wore Chanel, doye. More
Former French Vogue editor Carine Roitfeld‘s hotly anticipated new magazine CR Fashion Book comes out next week, and photos are already making their way onto the web. From the looks of them, it’s going to be a good bit more adorable than anything Roitfeld oversaw at French Vogue; it’s got baby animals, fairy tales, the hot but unpopular Kate Upton, and only a weensy bit of nudity. The theme, Roitfeld says, is “rebirth,” which was no doubt inspired by Roitfeld becoming a grandmother for the first time, as well as the “rebirth” of her own career following her departure from a high profile job. Let’s take a look at some of the cute, bizarre, and lovely images that have been released so far. More
You know how Joan Smalls scored the March cover of Italian Vogue and it’s a big deal because a black woman hasn’t covered that particular magazine in four years? …Unfortunately, some critics suggest that Italian Vogue might be chipping away at the significance of Smalls’ placement, saying the editorial that accompanies it is kind of racist. Okay, we promise this is our last 2011 round-up (it is, after all, 2012). We’ve already sifted through the best red carpet looks of last year, its most controversial advertisements, the best and worst dressed and the most annoying… now we must celebrate all of its best fashion models. This year saw Karlie Kloss shoot for the title of supermodel, Crystal Renn land her first (and much-deserved)Â Vogue cover, the startling debut of Saskia de Brauw, the rise of Arizona Muse, the continuing reign of Freja Beha Erichsen and the all-out domination of Andrej Pejic. Check out these and more of the year’s top models, then tell us your favorite. More
