Happy Thanksgiving eve, everyone. Here’s a bunch of models eating food because we’re lazy and unoriginal. More
The other day, I was going about my usual routine (scrolling through Fashion Gone Rogue and waiting breathlessly for the next major news story about bath salts to break). Anyway, I came upon an editorial starring Magdalena Frackowiack as a sultry nun in Dansk. So I says to myself, “Wow! A skinny white girl as a sexy nun? This is the most groundbreaking thing I have ever seen. I wish fashion would appropriate religious imagery more often because it’s really thought-provoking and bursting with exciting new ideas!” And then my heart was broken when I remembered this isn’t even the first time Magdalena Frockowiack was in a sexy nun editorial (that would be Pop‘s Nun Head from back in 2008). And then I remembered this trope has been run into the ground so deeply that sexy nuns are growing like pale, skinny flowers in China. Get ready. More
We try to share as many cool, current editorials as we can, but when it rains it pours: I was collecting spreads to post this past week and became completely overwhelmed by the amount of fantastic, striking, memorable work from (unsurprisingly) majors like Meisel and Sasha P. Some really cool things of late have included the surprise appearance of a Rayder sister (Missy!), a gorgeous Italian Vogue Beauty spread starring Magdalena and two rising star turns from newcomer Regina Feoktistova. Check out the stable of great shots from recent weeks in the gallery. More
I am a Jean Paul Gaultier fangirl. Still, I wasn’t completely sold on the idea of “punk” (mohawks, tartan, fishnets) meets “can-can” (full skirts and ruffles galore!), as was Gaultier’s description of his idea for Spring 2011 couture. At first glance, the collection struck me as a little too much in a few too many places, but if you squint past the crazy couture-spectacle details (that are part of the fun anyway) you can spot Gaultier’s bread and butter: razor sharp lines, immaculate tailoring, and a whole lot of good humor. Elie Saab is perhaps best known as a man who creates safe, winning choices for actresses to wear at red carpet events. This is not to say his dresses aren’t very pretty, it’s just to say that his Spring 2011 couture collection showed today and it is comprised of 41 floaty, flattering, feminine, red carpet-baiting looks. Since there’s never too much to say about columns with lace and flowers in classic silhouettes and swirling trains, let’s just imagine which actresses will show up in what.

It’s day one of the Spring 2011 couture shows and John Galliano mined the house of Dior’s history for ladylike shapes inspired by the illustrations of legendary artist-in-residence René Gruau. The clothes (the gorgeous, gorgeous clothes) were meant to be like “an unfinished symphony,” WWD reports, with vivid reds fading to inky blacks and blush to pale blue, for a remarkable dégradé effect. The shapes were elegant, the colors rich, with all the opulent details we’d expect from Dior, and especially Mr. Galliano. More
Every so often Karl Lagerfeld likes to roll out a new video he’s made for Chanel, like the one he did a while back in which Lara Stone goes from Chanel boutique to Chanel boutique, stealing whatever she likes. In his latest, Barbora Dvorakova, Magdalena Frackowiak, and (of course) Baptiste Giabiconi play mannequins in an eerily-empty store. Barbora and Magdalena look blank and do their absolute best not to blink until they spot Baptiste, at which point they scurry over to tug at his clothes. It’s called “Window World” and it’s More
Jumpsuits are hard to pull off, especially if they aren’t made exactly for your body: if you don’t have that perfect proportion of torso to leg, the jumpsuit looks awk. Fit is critical with these and that’s why they’re hard to buy off the rack and moreover, why they’re seldom done really well. Who knows if Paz Vega got this More
