Shopping Guide: 8 Lovely Cases To Help You Stop Losing All That Makeup

Shopping Guide: 8 Lovely Cases To Help You Stop Losing All That Makeup

Apparently, women lose about $400 worth of products each year. The easiest way to combat that: getting some sweet makeup cases to prevent this loss. Lots of them are quite ugly and boring, though, so we have found several that you might just love. Hopefully, this will make you more likely to actually use an organizer, but at the very least, they’ll be adorable accessories for your room! More »

Makeup Inspired By: Your Worst Nineties Makeup Nightmares (NSFLife)

Makeup Inspired By: Your Worst Nineties Makeup Nightmares (NSFLife)

Last week, we brought you the fun, grungy, hot makeup of the early nineties. Today, we are bringing something much, much worse to the table: multiple ugly trends from the 90s.

I’m talking Pamela Anderson lipliner, Baby Spice hair, metallic frosted shadow up to harsh-lined brows, unknowingly bad foundation lines, too much stick liner, so much bronzer and much, much more. Trying to figure out how to look like the worst version of your middle school self? Here it is, guys. There will be blood. Or, at the very least, glitter.

Internet, please don’t bring these back up when I run for city council, mmk? More »

The Pros & (Very Obnoxious) Cons Of Wearing Red Lipstick On A First Date

The Pros & (Very Obnoxious) Cons Of Wearing Red Lipstick On A First Date

Like thousands upon thousands of other people, I have been wearing Ruby Woo by MAC for several years. I have worn it to parties, to school, to work, to interviews, to sets, to the gym (yes, I am one of those people who wears makeup to the gym, and I know — blah blah what’s the point blah blah).

I love wearing red lipstick out, but I have always been somewhat cautious of doing so when out with somebody. You know, romantically. Red lipstick on a first date feels weird. More »

BareMinerals Wants You To Run For Fraternity Boys’ Viewing Pleasure Because You’re ‘Beautiful When You Sweat’

BareMinerals Wants You To Run For Fraternity Boys' Viewing Pleasure Because You're 'Beautiful When You Sweat'

This kind of obnoxious campaign doesn’t encourage anybody; it just tells us that we should don our hair and makeup according to what dudes like. Look, if I want to wear red lipstick to go running (and I most certainly have), then I will, and it won’t be because I want to look “cute” in my adorbz wittle lady wunning gear. More »

Photoshop Of Horrors: The Miss Korea Contestants Do Not Look The Same Because Of Plastic Surgery

Photoshop Of Horrors: The Miss Korea Contestants Do Not Look The Same Because Of Plastic Surgery

Remember when those photos of the Miss [South] Korea 2013 contestants made waves because it looked like they’d all had plastic surgery to get the same face? And everyone believed the Reddit user who posted them, because he claimed to live in Seoul, and because one fifth of South Korean women get plastic surgery, so it seemed reasonable that more than one fifth of South Korean beauty pageant finalists would have had plastic surgery? Makeup Face-Off: Betty Draper Vs. Megan Draper

Makeup Face-Off: Betty Draper Vs. Megan Draper

The two wives of Don Draper have quite a bit in common. Both Megan and Betty have been married to the same douchebag very attractive advertising executive guy, both are fascinating women with more intriguing personalities than many of the show’s other characters, both are absolutely stunning in appearance (and voice, though many of my friends have disagreed with me on that note). When it comes to their individual beauty looks, though, the two are very different.

For this Friday’s Makeup Tutorial, I’ll be using your votes to decide whose makeup I’ll do. Will it be Betty’s lovely, simple early- to mid-60s look or Megan’s more dramatic, late 60s makeup? More »

Alexa Chung Illustrates Extremely Basic Beauty Tips In Marie Clarie UK

Alexa Chung Illustrates Extremely Basic Beauty Tips In Marie Clarie UK

Don’t tell anyone I told you this, but “beauty” stories can be kind of boring sometimes. I mean, how many different ways are there to tell someone to put their hair up in a ponytail, along with step-by-step instructions no one is ever going to follow because we all know how to put our hair in ponytails already? Then again, many beauty stories are really just an excuse to look at models looking beautiful, which depending on your outlook, you either find more or less fun than learning how to capture said beauty for yourself. Case in point: in an effort to keep their May beauty story lively, Marie Claire UK enlisted fashion plate/TV presenter/”cookie cutter hipster” Alexa Chung, ostensibly to illustrate the various “beauty techniques” they recommend, but really so we could all gaze upon close-ups of her stupid sexy face. Don’t believe me? Look at how basic all of these “tips” are. More »

Makeup Tutorial: How To Get Demi Lovato’s Made Up ‘No Makeup Look’

Makeup Tutorial: How To Get Demi Lovato's Made Up 'No Makeup Look'

When stars post their own photos on Instagram, Twitter and Tumblr of themselves supposedly not wearing makeup when they very clearly are, I am suspicious and also irritated. It just encourages the media to write pieces about how beautiful women are without makeup and faux-concern-trolling us to not do so.

For example, Demi Lovato’s recent “no makeup look” she posted on Facebook featured the caption, “Ladies, be brave today…take off your make-up and stop using those filters!! WE are beautiful!!!” Yes, I forgot that it’s somehow cowardly for women to wear makeup and use filters, because the magazines, television shows and album cover photos she’s been in have absolutely not featured either of those things.
