The Alexander Wang Spring 2013 Ads Are Actually Kind Of Insane, NSFW

A few days ago, we saw the first ad for the Alexander Wang Spring 2013 collection (above). It featured (the truly great, truly beautiful) Polish model Malgosia Bela and, strikingly, no clothing whatsoever. Why, we fashion bloggers wondered, would a fashion campaign feature no fashion? This was all starting to seem a little masturbatory for us, but then the rest of the campaign dropped and… it’s pretty great!

Steven Klein shot the set, in which Bela is styled (by Patti Wilson) like a futuristic warrior but also haunted cave woman? We don’t know.  And, yes, there are clothes.

Miu Miu Throws Aggressively Joyless Sleepover With Adriana Lima, Doutzen Kroes And Friends For Spring 2013 Campaign

I know, I know: fashion photography is weird, models don’t always need to be smiling, and what seems unpleasant to one person is often beautiful to another. But I still can’t help thinking Miu Miu’s spring 2013 campaign looks like the least fun homoerotic all-girl sleepover I’ve ever had the pleasure of peeking in on. Cheer up, guys. You are about to get eaten out by your fellow supermodels while wearing several pounds of couture. More »

Gallery: 13 Working Models Over 30 (Part II)

Last November, we pointed out that it’s weird when teenagers become supermodels. We were subsequently inspired to put together a list of 13 working models over the age of 30, from Karen Elson to Kristen McMenamy. Back then, the criteria was they had to have walked in a show, fronted a campaign or starred in an editorial for a major glossy within the last year. At the time, we endeavored to “ignore the more obvious still-working over-30 ladies (Naomi Campbell, Gisele Bundchen, Kate Moss) and instead showcase lower-profile but no less amazing women.” That’s still the case.
