French Vogue's September Issue Features A New Look And 3 Beautiful Supermodels

It’s that exciting time of year when we fashion bloggers brace ourselves for 5 lb. September issues (and dread the arrival of Fashion Month). After last week’s reveal of an appealingly offbeat Lady Gaga on the September cover of American Vogue, we are happy to report that the magazine’s French sister is doing things a little different next month, too. Lady Gaga Lands The Most Important Fashion Cover Of The Year

Lady Gaga Lands The Most Important Fashion Cover Of The Year

Lady Gaga let the cat out of the bag on Twitter: she’s American Vogue‘s September covergirl. Yes, the all-important September issue is refreshingly offbeat this year and Gaga looks great in a fried lion’s mane and that striking Marc Jacobs gown. She was shot by powerhouse duo Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott and styled by Grace Coddington (of course). The cover story is already up online, too, so it looks like this was a coordinated leak. More »

Gallery: The Cover Spread of Carine Roitfeld’s Final French ‘Vogue’ Is Here

Gallery: The Cover Spread of Carine Roitfeld's Final French 'Vogue' Is Here

A little while back, I had a minor freakout when Carine Roitfeld cast a then-(mostly) unknown Dutch model named Saskia de Brauw to be the face of her final cover at Vogue Paris. I freaked out mostly because Saskia is 1) awesome looking and 2) 29, which is (unfortunately) straight up old for a model to breakthrough. It’s a striking, strange, slightly unnerving cover (the polar opposite of Emmanuelle Alt’s inaugural cover featuring Gisele Bundchen) and here’s the accompanying editorial, which also features whitehot new-ish comer Daphne Groeneveld, who was, alas, at the more common age of 15 when she appeared on the cover of her first French Vogue. The shoot–lensed by Mert & Marcus, styled by Carine–has a seedy, off-putting, voyeuristic feel to it, as if the images were nothing more than stills from security camera footage. What do you think? Was this a strong way to go out? (Also, it’s Vogue Paris, so there’s some nip. If your workplace is not down with mostly-unsexy Fashion Nudity, you may want want to stop at slide 12). More »

Campaign Stars: Lara Stone For cK Calvin Klein Spring 2011

Here’s our first look at Dutch supermodel Lara Stone in the Spring 2011 campaign for cK Calvin Klein (she’ll apparently be joined by Liu Wen in the next set of images). She was shot by power duo Mert & Marcus and styled by Karl Templer in the spare, fresh ads and almost succeeds in reminding us that Spring (and not Fall!) is just around the corner. Looks like we still have an NYFW hangover, after all. More »

Fashion Campaign Round-Up: Who’s The Face of What Right Now

Fashion Campaign Round-Up: Who's The Face of What Right Now

High-profile Spring 2011 campaigns have been flooding the internet lately. It seems like every one of them has a buzzworthy backstory–the first campaign for Alexander McQueen since Sarah Burton took the reigns, Crystal Renn snags another high fashion brand, Leighton Meester grins for Missoni while we await the release of Gossip Girl co-star Blake Lively’s Chanel ads. Oh, and Freja Beha is still everywhere. Let’s have a look at what’s coming down the campaign chute right now. More »
