Michelle Williams: A Lesson In How To Fashionably Evolve With Class And Grace

Michelle Williams: A Lesson In How To Fashionably Evolve With Class And Grace

I have to be honest: every time I plan to grow my hair out, I see a photo of Michelle Williams with her perfectly cute, pixie ‘do and I’m forced to run to the salon and have them snip it all away. To me she is a trendsetter who, despite a devastating loss, has perserved and come out on top. She is strength and courage personified. And for this generation of actors, Williams has not only solidified herself as a true talent, For this generation of actors, Williams has not only solidified herself as a talented actress, but a style icon. Gallery: Michelle Williams As Marilyn Monroe In GQ

Gallery: Michelle Williams As Marilyn Monroe In GQ

Will magazines ever get tired of styling young Hollywood actresses as Marilyn Monroe? Doubtful. But Michelle Williams just got done playing the doomed starlet in a movie, so GQ gets a pass this time. Is it just me or does Williams look uncomfortable in many of the shots? Maybe she’s channeling Marilyn’s bad mojo, or maybe she’s thinking about the things she said to the GQ writer about not wanting sexiness to be the main attribute for which she’s known: More »

Gallery: Emma Watson Looked Super Cute At The My Week With Marilyn Premiere

Gallery: Emma Watson Looked Super Cute At The My Week With Marilyn Premiere

At last night’s UK premiere for the much anticipated My Week With Marilyn (a film set, not coincidentally, in England), Emma Watson looked just lovely in a demure outfit from Jason Wu‘s spring 2012 collection. The film’s star Michelle Williams couldn’t be there, so it was on Watson, who plays Marilyn’s assistant in the film, to provide the old Hollywood glamor. Despite the fact that her outfit could have been sexier for the premiere of a film about one of the greatest sex symbols of all time, I think she held it down pretty well. And she doesn’t play a sexpot in the movie, so perhaps this was more appropriate, anyway. More »

Friday Style Icon: Michelle Williams

Friday Style Icon: Michelle Williams

This week’s Friday Style Icon is pretty straight forward: Michelle Williams is a really talented actress and a fashion risk-taker with good taste. She wears a refined palette of metallics and neutrals, knows what looks good on her (she loves a fitted bodice and a full skirt) and sticks to her guns (she will wear all the lace dresses). She’s partial to Chanel, Balenciaga, and Erdem and her trademark look is a mix of ladylike, mod and nonchalant. Although sometimes she comes up short, for the most part Williams is a lovely presence on red carpets who makes unconventional, intelligent fashion decisions and occasionally just kills it (we all remember her yellow Vera Wang from the Oscars). Let’s see some of her hits. More »

Academy Awards Fashion: What We Predict Actresses Will Wear to the Oscars

Academy Awards Fashion: What We Predict Actresses Will Wear to the Oscars

The Academy Awards–otherwise known as The Superbowl for Women–is around the corner, which means much speculation about what all the lady attendees will wear (but no speculation about bro-xedos because man fashion on the red carpet is the only thing more boring and safe than lady red carpet fashion). So here’s a gallery of the women nominated (or women in films that are otherwise nominated, eg Tilda Swinton) and our guess for their Oscar night looks. More »
