Surprise, surprise: a designer didn’t design for a non-model! More
As Fashion Month draws to a close, we must pick up the pieces and filter out the relevant information. So far, we know the Spring 2014 collections were all very Spring-y, the front rows were all very famous, and the models were all very white.
But! There were still surprises to be found in New York, London, Paris and Milan, as the accessories stole the show time and time again. Here’s 35 of the craziest, boldest, statement-making hats* and headgear from Fashion Month, from flower garlands to gothic cowboy hats to whatever that is up there. More
Fashion Month is drawing to a close, which means we’ve seen plenty of trends, much ridiculous street style, lots of famous people–you know, the usual Fashion Month works. By now we’ve had enough time to sift through the thousands of photos to bring you a selection of some very amazing (but often completely crazy) jewelry as seen on the runways in New York, London, Milan and Paris. Here are the biggest and boldest necklaces, bracelets, cuffs and, uh, headgear from Fashion Month–”statement jewelry” is putting it lightly. More
Milan Fashion Week is drawing to a close–which means the next round of Spring 2014 collections are around the corner in Paris. Here’s what the industry–Anna Wintour, Anna Dello Russo, Carine Roitfeld, Emmanuelle Alt–wore, along with the front row’s fanciest–Cate Blanchett, Freida Pinto, Blake Lively, Amber Heard–and even a few supermodels (Kate Moss, Karolina Kurkova, Bianca Balti). Dolce and Gabbana‘s spring 2014 menswear collection features lots of heroic imagery taken from ancient Greek art and architecture. But one thing they forgot to feature was the iconic male nude, which might explain why one passionate Grecophile decided to go streaking across their runway this past weekend. More
We all know fashion is “cool”, and a lot of people still think smoking is “cool”, so that must mean that smoking in fashion is “cool” squared! Well, at least DSquared2 thought so at their Milan Fashion Week show where models with 60′s style beehives and cat-eye sunglasses smoked cigarettes as they walked down the catwalk. More
While everyone else in Hollywood was busy with Golden Globes’ related-peacocking, a group of famous actors were in Milan for surprise appearances at the Prada Men’s RTW show. Not just any actors, though, legit actors: Gary Oldman closed. He was joined by Tim Roth, Willem Dafoe, and Adrien Brody along with a few new(er) kids Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch, and Garrett Hedlund. “Dressed in severe coats evoking Eastern Bloc military dress” said WWD, the men strolled along a sprawling, carpeted runway in a show “dedicated to power” (massive eyeroll). Military coat after military coat gave way to much outlandish adoration in the fashion press.
We were going to let you know all that and just show you the actors, but after scrolling through the entire show, we have to admit we laughed out loud several times at the men (famous and otherwise). Please laugh with us and enjoy this slideshow. More
