The Cannes Film Festival ended this weekend (but you were probably BBQ-drunk and binge-watching Arrested Development, yes?). While we love the festival for its reliably risky, glamorous and often downright weird red carpet (see above), all good things must come to an end. Here’s the last of the photocalls, the premieres, and looks from the star-studded Closing Ceremony. More
The 2013 Cannes Film Festival is occurring as we speak, though it occurred some over the weekend, too. Here’s what all those fancy people wore on the red carpet. Expect Jennifer Lawrence, Carey Mulligan, Jessica Biel, Rooney Mara, a slew of models and a couple good old Fashion Disasters. More
The 2013 Cannes Film Festival began yesterday–kicking off with Baz Luhrmann‘s take on The Great Gatsby. Here is the celebrity-laden red carpet, featuring the film’s stars, various fellow A-listers, a slew of fancy Euro-celebs and at least one Phoebe Price (obviously). More
Nicole Kidman was apparently in Austria this weekend, hanging out Vienna to attend a gala for Omega at Gartenpalais Liechtenstein. In a somewhat unexpected turn, she decided to go full-on Oscar ceremony in a floor-length Oscar de la Renta gown, covered … More
Last night’s Oscars ceremony was perhaps the longest in history. Lucky for us, though, the red carpet was surprisingly interesting–with clear winners, obvious losers and a lot of unusual looks and light risks in between.
Sadly, now comes the most dickish part of our job: picking the Oscars worst dressed list. Make sure to tell us how we are dumb and wrong (and mean!) in the comments. More
As we previously whined, coming up with a Best Dressed list from last night’s Grammys ceremony was like squeezing water from a goddamn stone.
Which brings us to the embarrassment of riches that is constructing a Worst Dressed list. We couldn’t even keep it to the standard ten! The 2013 Grammy Awards had to be one of the ugliest red carpets in recent memory… and ugly in so, so many ways.
Last night’s SAG Awards coverage was pretty easy for us, beauty-wise. Everyone either looked amazing in the face/hair department–Marion Cotillard, Anne Hathaway, Elisabeth Moss–or not so amazing in the face/hair department.
Ahead, the sleek blowouts, statement lips and one really, really bad wig of the 2013 SAG Awards… More
Consider this a prequel to the inevitable angry mini-mob that will be the British royal family if a film is made about Kate Middleton and Prince William anytime soon. More
Predictably, there wasn’t much to like on the red carpet and there was even less to remember. Luckily, the fashion disasters came fast and furious: Halle Berry showed her midriff, Alyssa Milano went to prom, and Jennifer Lopez really wanted you to think about her naked. More
Oh my goodness, do not know how to feel about the upcoming movie Grace of Monaco. But I will tentatively say that I feel at least slightly less good about Nicole Kidman playing Grace Kelly than I do about Lindsay Lohan playing Elizabeth Taylor in Liz & Dick. I know that sounds crazy, but hear me out on this. More
The November issue of Harper’s Bazaar features a cover story on Nicole Kidman that serves to remind us that she’s not just some Botox-ed ice queen, but a thoughtful, mature actress with intelligent things to say. It’s accompanied by a garish editorial shot by (guess who?) Terry Richardson, who puts the classy 45-year-old lady in the unlikely environs of a monster truck rally. Whether he did this as a commentary on high vs. low culture, a visual hint that she’s still young at heart, or simply the logical end product of the mind-blowing-ly creative notion that girls look hot next to cars is up to you, the viewer, to decide. More
Actress, singer, princess, activist: I’d say Grace Kelly’s life is definitely film-worthy, and Nicole Kidman is certainly up to that role. More
The Emmys, right guys? Oh god, so boring. Not a lot of really memorable dresses either. So… here’s the best we could do for a best dressed list. Remember: we’re grading on a curve here. Julianne Moore, Tina Fey, Kristen Wiig, Claire Danes and a few surprises ahead… More
