We’ve often thought there are two primary kinds of Photoshop fuck-ups. On the one hand, there’s the overzealous touching up–with enough buffing, scrubbing, lighting trickery and digital sweetening, this first kind of problem usually results in famous people looking nothing like themselves, in skin losing texture or internal organs magically disappearing. More generally, this first kind results in human bodies no longer looking anything like they belong to humans.
The second kind, though, that’s the kind we can all agree with. The fuck up. The blunder. The all out catastrophe…
You might wonder, Jennifer, why are you posting a picture of yourself leaning awkwardly against a wall? Are you one of THOSE bloggers? Are you the worst? Yes! Kind of! More
Enduring catwalk favorite Karen Elson is known for her steampunky vintage style, but it’s still a welcome surprise when a model without Gisele’s name recognition becomes the next high profile collaborator with Nine West. The collection is available early September but here are some of the relevant shoes, bags and jewelry. More
Beloved Brit designer Giles Deacon has collaborated on a small capsule collection with Nine West. All 9 pieces are now available online and have that distinct, playful GILES-ness about them: colorful piping along modern black flats and cartoon charm bracelets in burnished metal. Prices range from $26-$150. Here’s all of them. More
We were really struggling to come up with a great 4th of July-inspired Friday Style Icon: there were obvious options (various first ladies, Wonder Woman), there were ridiculous options (Jessica Simpson in Major Movie Star), and then the solution occurred to me during my afternoon viewing of the Top Gun volleyball scene (I watch it thrice daily): Charlotte “Charlie” Blackwood. The tough astrophysicist is inexplicably immune to rowdy acapella versions of Righteous Brothers songs but ultimately has a weakness for short, recalcitrant pilots (who are dangerous). Anyway, happy 4th of July and here’s our salute to Charlie, with all her back-seam stockings and retro pencil skirts. More
We’re now focusing on shopping guides that augment your resentment of the current weather. E.g., it is cold, rainy, gray and oppressive outside and we would like you to imagine yourself in a sundress and eye-catching printed espadrilles, skin all aglow as you glome roasted meats/vegetables. Dream big, girls: here’s a whole lot of shoes for better weather, from flats to wedges and towering heels. More
The great Karen Elson–flame-haired ’90s supe with staying power–is teaming up with Nine West on a collection of shoes, handbags and accessories to launch in late August as part of the company’s Vintage America collection. This is Elson’s first major collaboration and we’re surprised it took her so long, as she’s known for her distinct, off-beat style. Learn more and see a sketch after the jump! More

We knew Nigel Barker was dreamy, but this makes him ever sweeter. The America’s Next Top Model judge/fashion photographer is currently working with Nine West on the company’s Runway Relief program, which works to raise funds and awareness for Fashion Targets Breast Cancer, the CFDA’s charitable organization. Nine West has designed a special boot, the Modelinia, for the cause, and Nigel is teaming up with models like Coca Rocha, Jessica White and Lisalia Montenegro to promote the cause. The models will wear the boots, which contain pedometers, during New York Fashion Week, and their total steps taken will determine how much money Fashion Targets Breast Cancer will donate. And Nigel and the models are doing a photoshoot on Tuesday, August 31, to highlight their efforts.
In honor of this charitable cause, The Gloss wants to offer one of our Facebook fans a pair of Modelinia boots, which retail for $199, autographed by Nigel, along with a Runway Relief Survival Kit, which includes a tote, T-shirt and canteen. You can pick the boots in whatever size you want, or choose a Nine West gift card instead. More
