Fashion week is a stressful time for Kanye West. He has many exclusive events to attend, and a whole mess of people want to take his picture and give him presents. This would drive even the sanest person mad, which might explain why he had so many things he needed to get off his chest at last night’s Pusha T listening party. More
Alice + Olivia is known for its beautiful, lighthearted nature. Stacey Bendet‘s collections are always fresh, always fun and always pretty — and have perfectly coordinated beauty looks to accompany the clothes. Earlier this week, I went backstage at its show to check out the hair and makeup looks so I could share them with all you wonderful Glossers!
PLUS: Lots of gorgeous backstage pics! More
This has to be the most Instagrammed Fashion Week ever, and we get to see models getting ready backstage, designers running around behind the scenes, front row attendees shmoozing, texting, and doing their best bitch faces, and the couture looks straight from the runway all with the benefit of retro filters to make them “artistic.” More
While the Spring 2014 collections have been a little same-y, they’ve brought a lot of fun, eye-catching, wearable accessories. See, for example, our roundup of the many delightful shoes.
Now, of course, it’s time for handbags. Graphic black and white was the reason for the season at NYFW–a huge portion of the bags we saw played with contrasting stripes, geometric details and houndstooth. Let’s take a closer look… More
Here at The Gloss, we tend to shy away from the too-common bullying language of many fashion publications–5 Designer Items You Need Right Now! 5 Bags Everyone Will Have!, etc–because it’s unrealistic and obnoxious (no one needs a designer anything, for one).
However, for those of you who like following fashion but feel no obligation to spend a month’s rent on a damn handbag, one very easy way to translate the runway to your regular old wardrobe is with color. By incorporating the season’s biggest shades–whether through recycling stuff you already have or buying something new–you’ll achieve roughly the same effect as wearing trendy, eye-catching (and super expensive) runway pieces. Next Spring, these are the colors you’ll be seeing. More
NYFW is ending, so it’s time for us all to put our feet up, check out the season premiere of The Mindy Project on Hulu, and try one of these 5 DIY hair masks to help deep-condition and repair the Fashion Week damage. More
Apparently, it takes a lot out of the beautiful, famous people whose job it is to dress well and attend the runway shows, because they all look like Hell. More
I had always wanted to go to Fashion Week, but it was a lot different than I expected. More
Ahead, see Anna Wintour, Katie Holmes, Julienne Moore, Nicki Minaj, Tyra Banks and a whole bunch of models. Here’s what the rich, famous and occasionally fashionable wore to yesterday’s shows… More
As a child, I was interested in the following things: Nickelodeon, snacks, drawing with chalk, hula hooping, making my Barbie dolls do weird approximations of sex, and fruit roll ups. I was predominantly into tie dye when it came to fashion, so I’m not sure that I would have enjoyed watching weird people who didn’t go to my school wear weird costumes and prance down a runway, not smiling. On the bright side, this proves once again that rich people will do anything to feel included. More
Most critics played it safe and refused to give an opinion at all, but these five held nothing back. More
Fashion Week has but two days left! We’ve seen a lot of the expected for Spring 2014–bright citrus colors, florals, white looks, unfortunate crop tops and more unfortunate peplums–and a little of the refreshing (trapeze tops! swing coats!). But, thankfully, anchoring so many of Spring collections are a whole lot of wonderful, colorful, wearable shoes.
And when we say wearable, we (mostly) mean it–designers are all about chunky sandals, flatforms and sweet boots for Spring. Here’s a smattering of some lovely shoes from NYFW… More
