Fall 2012 is showing at NYFW, which means out with the breezy dresses, the delicate prints, the bright shoes and… in with the gloom (which we’re all for). If there’s one look that landed on every major runway, it’s probably what fashion glossies like to call the “urban warrior,” a modern, usually-but-not-always minimal tough girl look for the big city. In other words: lots of leather, sharp and angular silhouettes, combat, knee or thigh-high boots… with loads of military and gladiatorial flourishes in a palette of black and not much else. See Alexander Wang, Michael Kors, Prabal Gurung, Proenza Schouler and more ahead. More
Do you recognize this person? We almost didn’t! That’s former Gossip Girl Taylor Momsen attending last night’s Marchesa show, and when we first saw the image–accompanied by a reference to someone named “Taylor”–we thought, “Well, that would be Taylor Swift‘s notion of edgy.” …But no! It’s Momsen! More
“Dark and moody” go the unsurprising fall color trends at NYFW: covering the runways were muted shades of midnight, plum, and the reigning combination of black and blue. …But just when you thought it was all very bleak and Fall-appropriate… bright, fuck-off, electric reds came down the runway. Absolutely no one had his finger on this pulse better than Jason Wu, whose collection was almost exclusively shadowy shades of blue, wine and blinding red. Here are the colors to keep your eyes on for Fall 2012. More
Here at TheGloss, NYFW will be covered by two opposing forces: fashion week first timer Alice Walker Wright, and long time veteran Julia Allison. They’ll be bringing you some insights into the week that promise to go beyond our standard “pretty dresses are fun” take on it. Check out some of Julia’s Fashion Week coverage here and here. More
So, I was scrolling through Getty’s photo database looking to see what famous attendees wore to Monday’s Marc Jacobs show–Anna Dello Russo, predictably crazy–and came across this bespectacled fellow. Here were my thoughts: “Oh, he looks respectable. He must be European.” Then I assumed he was an editor at some fancy foreign glossy. Dansk? No. This man is Brandon Boyd from Incubus. More
Coach may not be a hardened veteran of the collaboration game but they’re making inroads: recently, they let bloggers take a crack at it and now they’ve asked Anna Sui to interpret the brand’s Duffle Sac, an evergreen style that dates back to 1972. More

Learn how Wixson is preparing for the end of the world after the jump. More
Today’s our last day of rounding up the trends of Spring 2012 from NYFW, so we figure we’d cap with something that everyone can wear regardless of skintone, body type, height etc: monochrome. Bold, graphic black and white was all over the Spring 2012 runways (whether it was minimal at Yigal or pretty prints at Preen) and we’re pleased with that because it’s always a fresh combination. Here’s our 10 favorite looks. More
