The 70th annual Golden Globe Awards took place last night and hopefully you enjoyed our knee jerk reactions to the (mostly boring) red carpet. Unfortunately, there weren’t a lot of stand out looks last night, so consider this best dressed list… graded on a curve.
Still, red carpet reliables like Julianne Moore and Anne Hathaway looked grand, while surprise turns from Olivia Munn, Lucy Liu and Stacy Keibler kept things interesting.
…Mildly, at least. More

Mitt Romney is on a desperate mission to save his flailing campaign after the apocalyptic fuck-up that was the Mother Jones leak. So, he did what any alien sent to earth to become a Brook Brothers model would do: he went on LIVE! With Kelly and Michael (?) to talk and brought along his expert humanizing device, wife Ann Romney. Look, every day, at the office, I end up wearing the same leopard fur coat. On good days, I like to think it’s very Edie Sedgwick. On bad days it’s more Edie Beale. Lately, it’s been mostly Edie Beale. I blame it on being rainy and overly air-conditioned in here. That said, I’m about one week away from wearing some stockings as a turban.
I’m going to go out on a limb and say that this is one of the many, many reasons I could not be the Yahoo CEO. But I am relieved to know that Marissa Mayer is wearing the same cardigan absolutely everyplace. CEOs: they’re just like us. Maybe this will stop people from getting so excited when Kate Middleton wears the same dress twice in a year? No? No. Well, we can dream.
Do you have one item you wear all the time? Do you know a brand of stocking that would make a nice turban? Let’s share tips! More
“Dark and moody” go the unsurprising fall color trends at NYFW: covering the runways were muted shades of midnight, plum, and the reigning combination of black and blue. …But just when you thought it was all very bleak and Fall-appropriate… bright, fuck-off, electric reds came down the runway. Absolutely no one had his finger on this pulse better than Jason Wu, whose collection was almost exclusively shadowy shades of blue, wine and blinding red. Here are the colors to keep your eyes on for Fall 2012. More
It’s that time of year, guys! Yesterday, WWD spoke to up-and-coming Russian model Vika Falileeva about her strong showing during Spring 2012 fashion week. When they asked how she was preparing for the Fall 2012 shows, her answer was pretty surprising. More
American Vogue EIC Anna Wintour‘s influence on fashion is unquantifiable. We just know it’s huge. Since today is her 62nd birthday, we’re giving her Friday Style Icon. Here’s the industry titan whose closet is the runway collections of every designer on earth. …Though she tends to favor Prada and Chanel. More
We’re currently in Fall 2011, Spring 2012 just showed and it’s Fall 2012 time for Bridal. Does that make sense? No? Too bad. Anyway, Fall 2012 bridal had some surprises: though there’s always a few looks with a high hemline, a few weird silhouettes and techno fabrics, this season there were also more than a few jet black wedding dresses. …That being said, there was a whole lot of lace and mermaid gowns and cap sleeves, too. Here’s our picks for the best of them, from heavyweights like Vera Wang, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera and more. More
It’s Bridal time (FUCK YEAH MARRIAGE)! All the heavy hitters–Carolina Herrera, Monique Lhuillier, Oscar de la Renta–are showing wedding collections for Fall 2012. Interestingly, the heaviest hitter of them all, Vera Wang, was feeling pretty moody: black wedding gown levels of moody. For what it’s worth, Wang was wading into darker waters last season (she showed lots of dove gray) but still kept it pretty romantic and delicate. This collection, however, is downright goth. I don’t mean to be a completely ridiculous parody of my high school goth self but… I kind of like them? More

Spring is reliably the time for two things: floral prints and airy dresses in white. True to form, NYFW saw no shortage of prints–of every kind–and plenty of the LWD (the LBD’s humidity-friendlier cousin). Here’s the 10 on our wishlist, from Gatsby dreams at Ralph Lauren to draping at Doo.Ri to minimalism at Helmut Lang… and this razor sharp number above from Cushnie et Ochs. More
